2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma is malty and sweet, scarcely hoppy, not much like an IPA. It pours a clear, dark golden amber with a respectable, if not too persistent, pale cream head that leaves some good lacing. Flavor is fairly hoppy, but as much malty as hoppy, with a fruity undertone of pear and orange. Smooth texture has average body and fizz, and leaves a malty, slightly fruity, slightly hop bitter finish. Average, but still acceptable.
Restrained aroma in an amber pour. Hop forward balance with laid back body and finish. One of the first base brews from Tuatara and one that helped put them on the map. Not bad in its day - but long since overshadowed. kerenmk (5152) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - JUL 26, 2017
Bottle shared at a tasting at the Dancing Camel. Thanks Excellent Little Brother! Clear amber-gold with a huge white head. Soapy, limestone and some pine aroma, bitter, soapy and old taste. Light-to-medium body, quite carbonated, orange and soap finish. loscovar (691) - Trieste, ITALY, Villeneuvette, FRANCE - JUL 5, 2017

Pours an amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy aroma. Fruity malty weak citrus hoppy flavor. Has a fruity malty hoppy citrus finish. Idiosynkrasie (7952) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - FEB 28, 2017
330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, amber colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Citrusy fruity, hoppy aroma, notes of lemon, some orange, a resinous touch. Taste is citrusy fruity, hoppy, moderately bitter, notes of lemon, hints of orange, a resinous touch, caramel malty background; abrupt, quasi non-existent finish, only a minimally metallic impression remains... drjoeng (1380) - SINGAPORE - JAN 2, 2017
Poured out amber. 12ºSRM.
Mouthfeel is soapy. Palate is light and clean with pale malt, light sweetness suggesting lightly browned toast, wonderbread and sweet dough, keep in mind that the sweet is light but the palate has a nice ponderous sweet bready body. So it’s not all light and sweet. There is a nice slightly sour, fruity body to the palate which suggests juice, maybe some fresh-squeezed orange, especially a cloudy milky fresh-squeezed juice with a lot of pith. YOverall very sour and lemon juicy as far as the palate goes.
Hops are resinous, pine, bitter melon, there is an emphasis on bitter rather than the pine or the citrus. So not so much on the parent aromatics and more emphasis on the bitter betas.
Finish is medium with a clean bitter back of the throat bitter, which I have come to associate with Columbus.
Goes on Favorites List! DylansDad (659) - North Shore, Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 13, 2016
Overall, quite an earthy ale. Green melon, orange, lemon, pineapple, floral. Sweet at the front, orange, wood and pine at the back. All flavours and aromas are on the light side and the body is fairly thin, which makes it a very drinkable quencher. Samtzu (574) - Palmerston North, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 5, 2016
330ml bottle. Pours a crisp gold with little head. Slight bitterness with some fruit flavours coming through.
