Very much macro, with flavor toned down considerably across the board, this is still a good beer due to its interesting balance of malt and light spice, great sepia-toned appearance (and blue bottle), and clean finish tbonde (361) - DENMARK - DEC 6, 2015
40 cl from tap@Vanløse Kulturhus in Tuborg footed glass@approx 5 degrees C. (too cold). Pours dark amber/brown with small off-white head with rather low retention. Subdued malty aroma with a hint of sourness. Taste dominated by roasted malt but again weak and uninteresting with not much else happening. Medium texture and carbonation. Where this Danish classic scores - albeit not very high on points - is in the aftertaste, where the added licorice kicks in and leaves you with a quite distictive flavour. Thanks to very good marketing, this beer has become the symbol of Christmas beers in the Nordic countries. The only Christmassy thing with this beer is the label. Otherwise just a malty beer which could be for any season.
