A dark reddish brown, a head is medium and beige. Aroma has bread, some sweetness of syrup, dried fruitness with raisin and prune, chocolate. Taste has dried fruits, raisins and prunes, richness of malts, bread, quite strong sweetness, some chocolate. Almost full bodied, smooth and nice palate. Great beer. Strong ried fruitness. I like this beer.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BB 15.03.2018, from Alko, 20170201) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and nearly white. Aroma had metal, malts, caramel and molasses. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, caramel, molasses, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, malty and bitter. A rather nice bock. The aroma had unpleasant metal notes.

Nice clear mahogany with a big tan head. Aroma of chocolate and wood, caramel and notes of vanilla or possibly banana. Taste full and sweet. Plenty of caramel and some chocolate notes, a little too full bodied to be truly drinkable, but an enjoyable sipper.

0,5lt bottle @ Valentin - Curious Bierkneipe, Volos Greece Hints of caramel, roasty aroma. Body is medium with low carbonation, it lacks in intensity, flavor, balance. Alcohol hidden. You get some malty roasty sweetness but the palate is not there. I’ll re-rate this if this bottle was just not perfect.

Grumpelmies (290) - North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - NOV 5, 2016
Bottle. Mahogany with a beige head. Aroma of malts, dark fruits, candy and caramell. Taste is mostly malts, nuts, honey, dark fruits and caramell again. Hops and Bitterness make their appearance in the aftertaste. Medium carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden. Balanced and overall well made Doppelbock but for my taste there are better and more complex types out there.

From bottle. At opening, there’s a nice aroma of dates that hints at the flavor. Taste if of dares with chocolate malt. Exceptionally smooth.

Dark brown color with tan head. Aroma has lots of dried fruits, mostly figs, dates and raisins, toasted malts and some brown sugar. Taste starts with the dark malts shining the most, continues with some of the dried fruits and finishes with some alcohol warmth and a touch of roasty bitterness to balance out the sweet malts. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. This is a really good doppelbock. I’m not really a huge fan of the style but I can appreciate such a well made beer.
