UPDATED: JAN 30, 2003 This may be the best doppelbock that I have ever tasted. I put Salvator and Celebrator high on the ratings, but this blows them clear out of the water. Beautiful brown body, off-white head. The taste is incredible. Malty sweetness with the perfect amount of dryness to balance out the flavor. Absolutely magnificant. Too bad it is somewhat difficult to find. noelcb (271) - Toledo, Ohio, USA - FEB 23, 2005
Dark pour, huge thick creamy head. Well-balanced aroma and taste. Aromas of rust, earth and rich malt. Flavor includes peat, malt, grain, and perfectly-balanced hops. Mouth feel is chewy, full and foamy. Overall this dopplebock is very balanced and very drinkable. A great example. beeracoon (511) - - DEC 18, 2012
Huge brownish head, clear red-brown colour. Pleasantly strong, bready, roasty caramel aroma. Fruity, bitter-roasty taste and a long, caramel palate. Brilliant beer. SanfordBrewer (1574) - Sanford, Florida, USA - DEC 15, 2009

aroma: lots of sweet bready malt with hints of licorice and dark fruit.
taste: lots of sweet bready malt with hints of licorice and dark fruit.
rich and bready in all regards. is there anything in here besides dark munich malt and bittering hops? maybe a touch of carafa? the minerality and sourness from the darker malt gets unpleasant toward the end.
Nice dark color with a big long lasting head malty aroma with the same in the flavor as well as some hints of fruit nice malty finish well worth the bucks. BlackEyePA (573) - USA - AUG 29, 2012

Very malty, sweet, and caramelly tasting. The nose is all caramel and malt. Nicely balanced and an easy drinker for the 7.2%. Recomend to anyone who wants to try a dopplebock.
