Clear dark copper to brown color, tan head. Sweet, grainy, fresh, some caramel scent. Dry, salty, grainy, wort taste. Mineral, salty, dry, grainy aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterenss.
Smells and looks nice, the taste is not for me though.
Bottle. Clear, chestnut-amber coloured, small, persistent off-white head. caramelly-bitter nose with fruity and a roast-malty touch. Moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied, quite soft MF. Caramelly and slightly bitter finish with some herbal undertones. Astonishingly good Dunkel by a mass-market producer........

It’s dark brown with a red hue and a huge, creamy head. The aroma has notes of malt, syrup and caramel. The flavour is sweet with notes of malt, syrup and caramel, and the finish is slightly dry with a hint of syrup. It’s nice, but the sweetness is a bit too strong, and makes me give a slightly lower score. MoritzF (10068) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - NOV 3, 2008
(bottle) Clear, mahogany colour with a small beige foamy head. Sweet roast-malty aroma with notes of cacao, caramel and a delicate herbal hoppy blend. Slightly sweet flavour with a light roasty bitterness, solid malty with a tinge of dark bread, caramel and faint herbal accents; moderately dry and bitter, but also a bit slim and short finish. Anyway a decent Dunkel (31.X.08). tderoeck (10002) - Gent, BELGIUM - AUG 16, 2012

Clear copper red to amber beer, aery light beige head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: bit metallic, malts, some caramel, hay, touch of banana, overripe fruits, hint of sulfur. MF: soft to no carbon, light body. Taste: caramel, hint of banana, bready, little metallic. Aftertaste: bit watery, some caramel, citrus, metallic, hint of mocha. Not exciting.
On tap at the Goldenes Posthorn, Nurnberg November 2006. Brown beer with minimal head. Plenty of malt aroma. The flavour was of caramel with a bitter finish. Not bad. Svesse (8731) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - APR 3, 2015
(Bottle, Hyddan, Åre, 26 March 2015) Brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark bread, dried fruit and a touch of brown sugar. Malty, slightly fruity taste with dark bread, dried fruit, raisins, brown sugar, roasted malt and a gentle bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Quite decent, but fairly sweet and a bit metallic. Enjoyable.
