UPDATED: JUN 22, 2010 Very dark brown pour- surprisingly dark for the style. One finger white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is toasty malt with some roasty grains. Sweet, biscuity, toasty and caramely in flavor. Very nice complex malt character with clean hop finish. Palate is full and silky finishing clean. Pretty yummy. light brown pour, nose is malty and a little bit of almond. Mouthfeel is a little thin but flavors are decent, a bit bready and malty. nothing special but not that bad TURDFERGUSON (4068) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAY 15, 2009
Bottle shared by Ethan. Thanks. Kind of a weird beer here. Nose was nutty and malty, and had a faint hint of generic fart smell. Flavor is a bit better but I also found it slightly metallic and just a little off. Carbonation is low. I’ve had better Altbiers. emacgee (4711) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - MAY 12, 2009
Thanks hophead 75. Pours a reddish copper with a one finger frothy tan head. The nose is sweet and malty, a lagery smell, leafy hops, some caramel, grain. Flavor is malty and bready, has a mild hop character, smooth and easy to drink. Palate shows low carbonation and bitterness. Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 18, 2009
12oz bought at Julio’s in February. A clear and rather dark pour offering a slowly fading sheet of off-white foam. Straight-up nutty toastiness takes a fair part of both taste and aroma. Minimal bready layer quickly gives in to slightly burnt biscuit. Soft leafy hoppiness lacks the freshness of a draught offering in Dusseldorf, but provides a clean bitterness. All throughout, while some residual can be perceived, it leans more towards dryness than most, avoiding any caramel territory and most of the fruity one as well. The result is a rather simple beer, but it works. Good for what it is.

Light gold pour with off white head and lace. Brown sugar and light malt on the nose. Toasted malt flavor and medium bitter. Slightly thin to medium bodied. Decent drinker with a nice bitter finish. Rosebud butternuts (2398) - Denton, Texas, USA - SEP 14, 2008

Bottle thanks to Ericandersnavy.
Pours brown with some ruby hue’s, beige head. Not much aroma, some very slight fruit and hops. Flavor is more bitter then sweet, faint hints of fruit. Palate is light body, high carbonation. Overall, not bad but not very good. Pretty dry. SpringsLicker (3685) - Tennessee, USA - AUG 18, 2008
Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one.
Dark brown, ruby tinged body that throws up an off-white head.
Leathery malt aroma.
Sweet overall with some sourness that leads to a tangy finish. Shag (3060) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - AUG 18, 2008
A dark brown appearance with a beige head. The aroma contains some nutmeg, caramel, and chocolate. The flavor is a bit dry with some caramel, chocolate with a nutty presence. This seems more like a brown than any alt Ive had but it was pretty good anyway.
