COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A German Style brown ale brewed with dark, rich Belgian specialty malts and domestic whole hops. The alt will have a dark copper color and will have a slightly fruity, bittersweet flavor. It is a beer for the more adventurous, for people with an appreciation for a beer with a rich malt character and a balanced hop finish.

Another beer from of the beer of the month club. 12 oz. Bottle. Pours a murky light red with a creamy white head and lacing. Nice malt nose with a bit of earthiness. Balance malt flavor with a nice hop bite in the finish. Slightly watery body but still a nice beer.

Vermont Brewers Fest 2006, draught sample. Light fairly clear amber-brown with a touch of head.....the aroma is pleasantly nutty, a hint of honey, some woody-vanilla hints, but a bit of dark oiliness as it warms doesnt help....the body is husky, dry and of little character, nutty hints are barely evident and theres just not a lot of malt, and no hops to speak of....just no "there" there if you know what I mean; I have trouble describing anything else so Ill just leave it at: dull.

Very nice malt character with a firm hop bite on the end. I love these types of beers that have strong malt character and a strong hop character. Very drinkable as well.

A very average brown ale. Pours brown with a foamy white head. Has aroma of malt, nuts and some sour notes. Flavor grew on me- definitely dont serve to cold.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2006 Re-rate: After a few of these, I am beginning to see the better points. Nutty-Bready aroma. Rich copper color. Pours nicely into a glass with nice foamy tan head. Nice carbonation - tiny little bubbles rising. Flavor is very smmoth and drinkable. I will buy this one again!

In the bottle. This was a June 2006 Beer-of-the-month club selection. Thanks to p-man for the beer. A hazy, light brown/dark amber beer. Roasted german lager aroma with a bit of the dough-like smell. medium flavor profile, has a roasted malty taste, but not much of either. Im not sure what the slight vegetable off flavor is, but it is only faint. The thin body makes for a whimpering finish.

Pours dark brown into a shaker. Creamy micro head with good retention. Deep caramel malt and pine hop aromas. Slightly fizzy with upfront dry caramel with a sour, bitter hop finish.

From a bottle poured a copper/brown with a nice head. Nice bitterness to end, not particularly nutty. Nothing special. As a side note, if you get the 12 oz bottle it has one of the worst indistinguishable labels I have ever seen. Use better art please!

Bottle. Brown, red appearance. Medium off-white head. Mild caramel malt in aroma. Flavor similar, light roastiness in finish. Could use a little more umph.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a somewhat hazy copper color with a decent off-white head. Pleasant aroma of malt and yeast. The taste initially was very weak, almost washed out. I actually came close to pouring this one down the drain. As it warmed a bit in the glass (since I didnt care for it initially I wasnt drinking it particularly quickly), the flavors became a bit more pronounced, although still weak. Watery body.
