UPDATED: JUL 13, 2006 Re-rate: After a few of these, I am beginning to see the better points. Nutty-Bready aroma. Rich copper color. Pours nicely into a glass with nice foamy tan head. Nice carbonation - tiny little bubbles rising. Flavor is very smmoth and drinkable. I will buy this one again! ToadMan (559) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - JAN 5, 2004
On tap at the Loon Mountain Bunyon Room. Fairly dark color with a nice head and light lacing. Aroma is of sweet carmel malt. Flavor starts much the same with some hints of chocolate, the finish is nicely balanced by some lighy hoppieness. Quick3Beers (1234) - East Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA - APR 6, 2016
Pours a brown with a thick white head, rather large bubbles. Brown sugar and dough aroma, similar flavor nice noble hop profile, a little spicy yeast. Good beer. johnnnniee (4312) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 29, 2011
UPDATED: DEC 9, 2011 Picked up a sixer of this today and had one after shoveling the driveway.
Pours a solid brown that shows some ruby highlights when held up to the light. Two finger off white head that dissipates quickly and leaves minimal lacing on the way down the glass. Smell is a bit roasty, chocolatey and some caramel thrown in there too. Taste follows the smell, but adds a hop bite in the finish. Medium thick creamy smooth mouthfeel with adequate carbonation. I am pleasantly surprised this is a great little session brew from an up and coming local company. thornecb (5912) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - JUN 24, 2006
Pours dark brown into a shaker. Creamy micro head with good retention. Deep caramel malt and pine hop aromas. Slightly fizzy with upfront dry caramel with a sour, bitter hop finish.

Deep amber colour, small head. Aroma is wood, yeast, malts, caramel, earthcellar as well as some mild spicy and herbal notes. Flavour is quite much the same. Ends in a rather dry palate.
12oz bottle, brown color, with a creamy beige head, toasted, biscuity, grainy malt nose, with a mild cookie dough, light toffeeish accent, with a hint of dark dried fruit in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, toasted, caramelized, biscuity, grainy malt character, with some cookie dough, light nutty, dried raisin notes, with a faint flowery hop leafy accent, leading towards a malty, grainy, lingering hop bitterness finish. A nice altbier!
