Porter or American Dark Lager?
In my glass (poured from bottle) it looks clear ruby to mahogany in colour with an enduring cream coloured head. Aromas of chocolate and caramel malts abound and if I’m being charitable, maybe some British ale malts. The beer is sweet with reference to the chocolate and caramalt. A little too sweet for my liking, but this beer isn’t without its charm. It certainly looks good enough to drink.
Handle in Robbie’s bar, Hanmer Springs. Mild milk chocolate nose. Dark red/brown beer with thin collar of suds. Light body, little fizzy notes. Distant malt background with tinny notes at the end. Certainly easy-drinking but instantly forgotten. DylansDad (650) - North Shore, Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - JUN 13, 2015
Quite a drinkable brew. Nothing to write home about, but if this was the only beer available, I’d drink it. MoritzF (10018) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - AUG 22, 2014
(bottle, 33cl) Clear, mahogany colour with a beige and short foamy head. Slightly sugary, earthy and mildly roasted malty aroma with hints of chocolate, traces of dried fruits and wax. Sweet flavour, light bodied with a soft carbonation. Dark and slim, slightly roasted malty base with notes of chocolate and subtle fruity flavours; almost watery and slightly roast-malty finish. Not overly entertaining. 22.VIII.14 Idiosynkrasie (7711) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - AUG 21, 2014
330ml bottle. Clear, ruby red glowing, dark brown colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Dark malty aroma has fruity hints of plum, black cherries, dark berries, cautious hints of chocolate, blunt remnants of their grainy origin. Taste is initially dry, roasty dark malty, minimally fruity and metallic, the middle part is characterised by a waxing and waning, slightly artificial, moderately sweet milk chocolate note, the finish is again more fruity, minimally metallic, cautious hints of plum and dark berries. Quite flavourful for its 4% abv, but still rather light for a full-blown Porter. Beerhunter111 (21762) - P´Castle, GERMANY - AUG 13, 2014
Dunkel rötlichbraunes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr leicht röstmalzig süß. Geschmack röstmalzig, leicht schokoladig, Kaffee.

An excellent dark ale which captures your attention right from the first taste. Deserves to be more widely distributed as it sets a new benchmark for a dark ale. well done Tui! kiwianer (3428) - Otorohanga, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 15, 2013
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2014 The head is ok, the body dark brown almost black. It smells darkmalty, aromatic, malty, bit sweet. The taste is quite aromaitc, malty, darkmalty, less hoppy. Ok StevoS (1) - NEW ZEALAND - OCT 7, 2013 does not count

Clear, dark brown with an orange hue and a creamy, beige head leaving neat curtains of lacework. Lightly roasted malt aroma. Medium in body with sweet, roasted malts
