East India Pale Ale was first brewed in England last century for the colonies East of India such as New Zealand and Australia. The beer was unpasteurised and secondary fermentation occured in the bottle during the long journey. Thirsty settlers loved its natural effervescent character and we reckon it still hits the spot today.
Brewers Comment: This fine ale is a thoroughly refreshing beer with a light palate best suited to beaches, barbecues and all beer related occasions.
Serving Suggestions: Serve lightly chilled on its own or with any manner of barbecued meats. At restaurants, or when trying to impress others, try and use a glass. Do not mix with salad.
Cellaring: Yeah right!

Had this on tap at various establishments on my journey through NZD lately. This beer as far as draught is ok overall, certainly did not get any hint of IPA from this compared to others I have had, and fairly weak as well. I remember little hoppy character, poor head, and somewhat smooth.

light body, a relatively cheap NZ made beer. Nothing to rave about, but tastes fine after a spot of hard work. A bit of a price pusher, and a long standing Kiwi icon.

Bottle. Dark Amber in colour. Looks like a pale version of Coca-Cola. Malty; lightly roasted malts, caramel. Unable to detect any hops at all. Sweet Malty throughout. Definitely NOT an IPA; didnt taste much like beer. Bland. Nondescript. (2009)

UPDATED: MAR 22, 2017 Clear dark, dark orange/brown with thin, foamy white head. Smells of sweet biscuit, caramel malt. Taste is quite sweet too, not as sweet as smell though. Some hops there as well at the end. Very clean and refreshing. Extremely drinkable. East India Pale Ale might be a little misleading, but otherwise a solid brew.

Multiple cans. Bland watery brew lacking any tastes. Aroma is heavy metallic. Nothing resembling IPA at all, it is more like cheap pale lager. Avoid.

33cl bottle. Clear amber colour with a small white head. Malts, bread in the Aroma. Average carbonation and light watery body. Taste is more on the sweet side but light. Overall, drinkable in hot summer day if there isnt anything else.

Dark amber clear with no head. Firstly sweet aroma, then comes some hints for bread in aroma. Mild amber lager, a bit sweet bread taste with metallic notes in the end.

BEL!!!!! Schmeckt wie leicht suerliches Malzwasser. UNNTIG !!!

Nicely designed bottle. The beer pours light brown, white but quickly dissipating head. Aroma is mainly malt, citrus and what I think could be green apple or pear, but overall very watery. Taste is slightly sweet; notable is that there is none of the expected bitterness at all. The beer has a light body and a very thin, watery mouthfeel. Caronation is above average.
