Light bold brew with a large white head, quite good retention but no lacing. The aroma is warm with hints of grain, dry grainy crusted bread... did I mention bread?, some sweet fruit and cookies?. Well done on the taste: slight peat, a bit of tartness works well, a bit peatier after a couple of sips, well placed spice (mild), ok hops, bit ’o wood - oak actually.. a good amount of oak). A Blonde Ale that pours a bit orange. The whisky presence? Strong odour of soda crackers. Some acidic smell and yeast but missing the soft fruit that often accompanies a good blonde. Extremely soft mouth with developing floral notes and a lashing of butter cream. Cool and coating mouth feel and some extremely late coffee/burnt notes on the finish. [ As Tullibardine Distillery 1488 Traditional Ale ].
Clear light to medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, fruity, light to moderate hoppy, citrus. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. 
pours slightly cloudy cherry wood red, smallish head, micro CO2, ringed retention, a bit of sticky lacing, varied slow-moving CO2 streams, lees at bottom of the glass. Some citrus fruity malts and caramel on the nose. 1st sip is sickly 9/10 sweet. Next few sips drinks tangy 4/10 sour up front, transitions into lightly malted 7/10 sweet carbonated caramel and sour cherries, finishing off-dry oaky bitter. Carbonation is not exactly creamy but more like tingly and is active throughout. One thing that I don’t particularly like is the hint of barnyard/puke-flavour right at the start mixed with sourness. Medium complexity, medium depth, medium-long length, good transitions, good carry, very drinkable. Well-done on a surprisingly low ABV beer.

500ml bottle pours a pale golden color with a 2 finger head that settled slowly producing no lacing on the glass. Aroma is light grains and floral hops with hints of citrus. Taste is light malty sweetness with a mild hop bitterness with citrus. Light to medium in body and lively carbonation. Been around for 2 years? and not even on the site?! 400ml bottle. Amber with a decent lasting bubbly head. Light skunky grass and grain aroma. The closest of the 1488s to Innes and Gun. Lightly colored dull browny gold ok looking white cap floating on top. Powerful stink coming from the beer sourish malts, lots of caramel, whiskey, and peat. Taste is fairly dark and malty, burnt wood some oak, and mild bitterness in the finish. Flavours of random chemicals keep appearing the finish is dominated by ash and apple makes a brief appearance. Hmmmm, is this an exclusive-to-Alberta release? So far there are only Alberta raters on the board! Weird. Pours a dirty golden with a lively but short-lived head. Very peaty, woody aroma. Lots of wood and peat flavours backed by gritty, dirty malt. Once again, I do not care for the marriage of pale malts and whiskey casks. Or maybe it’s simply that I haven’t met a brewer who is willing to put in the quantity and quality of pale malt to make it work? I don’t know. The date on the neck is March 20/14 so I am guessing it’s a little old. It’s poured a little darker than apple juice. Left a sustained microhead and some lacing. Taste is a little bit malt with citrus, but very sweet. It’s smooth and not that bitter but that probably has to do with the age of this on one.
