hmm... it has a decent malty coffee aroma and taste I guess, but there’s lots lacking. no head, thin, flat - i like a stout flat, but not this way - does that make sense? i’m not sure it does. It does to me, but I’m not sure if it does to you.

Cask (gravity dispense) at the Pigs Ear Beer Festival, London on 6 December 2006. Deep reddish brown colour. Roasty malt aroma. Smooth burnt malt flavour with touches of chocolate. Quite dry mouthfeel. Decent enough, without generating too much excitement.

Cask conditioned at Harbury Beer Fest ’10. Black with ruby hue, cream head. Sweetish liquorice in a powdery body, some sweet chocolate and a tarry thinnish finish.

[Bottle from brewer’s own stand at the Chiltern’s Festival of Food, Great Missenden] Pitch black with a thin-off white head. Oily mouthfeel. Flavour of smokey treacle mixed with cough mixture. Sour plum comes through, almost vinegary at times. Very odd.

500ml bottle - shared by Mark&Sarah - thanks!
Rich black, small head. Slightly sharp palare. A full roast, but not so burnt. Leaves the mouth sticky and needing a good scraping!

Christian (13805) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 26, 2009
Cloudy dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is woody with chocolate and a hint of smoke. Dry, roasted malt chocolate flavour, slightly sour and again with that wood note.

downender (8774) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - NOV 30, 2008
BCA. Opaque, near black in colour with a momentary tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, prunes and roasted malt. Flavour had plenty of chocolate, more roastiness and a hint of salty sourness in the finish. Unusual.

500ml Bottle conditioned. 4.7%. Very lively with a lot of sediment; had to por carefully but sill lost 100ml or so. Poured almost black with a thick creamy white head. Aroma of burnt chocolate and malt. Chocolate and a pronounced bitterness on the swallow. Quite full bodied and a good example of its type.

Bottle 50cl. @ chris_o’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2008.
Light unclear medium brown color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt, prunes. Flavor is moderate sweet and sour (sweet sour acidic) with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (020808)

Bottle at chris_o’s lucky party shack. Alround rating: Roasty, tart, thin, but alround balanced and tasty. The infected character defo improves it for me.
