It has been too long. Pours sparkling clear and copper. Thin head with a huge grassy nose. Light grain in the aroma as well. Good bitterness up front but not overkill. Malty body backs up the bitterness but does not overpower it. EXTREMELY clean flavor and body. Great beer Mr. Tupper. Thanks for bringing it back. I like hops. I really, really like hops. Therefore, I really, really like Hop Pocket. Clubs you in the head with hops--a killer American Pale Ale. LordHedgehog (144) - Westminster, Maryland, USA - AUG 6, 2001
Smooth and wonderfully flavourful, but an extremely bitter aftertaste. Strong hops, but not overpowering. A great steak beer! argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 7, 2002
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2003 (retasted 5/30/03): Tried it again last weekend, and my opinion remains the same -- this is a damned impressive beer. Floral and citrus hops are well balanced by the moderate sweetness. Medium body. This beer is incredibly drinkable. HighGravity (926) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JUN 7, 2002
UPDATED: OCT 14, 2004 Bottled on 5/17/02. A big rocky head on this brew. The aroma is like sticking your head in a sack of hops. Very ganja like. The palate is very bitter, but the beer taste so good. The malt comes off with favorable notes of honey. A classic hoppy beer.

Hops!!! If you like hops, this is one to try. The hops jump out at you and the malts follow up with a light, mellow flavor. This is one of my favorite beers that is easy to find. haukur (1957) - Reykjavik, ICELAND - MAY 17, 2003
a very hoppy ale, well carbonated. surprisingly it didnt pull much head, but a very sweet taste. A very nice brew, to bad it´s hard for me to find Guinness (1) - USA - NOV 7, 2003 does not count

Orange with a big white head. Aroma of hops and some wheat. Citrus hop flavor. Dry tangy finish. Very drinkable. DocLock (10683) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 27, 2004
I discovered Tupper's beers last summer on vacation in Williamsburg. The hop pocket ale knocked my socks off when I sampled it in a downtown Williamsburg bar. I stack it up there with Sierra Nevada as one of the finest Pale Ales around. The pour is very heady, with a nice straw-brown color. The beer is extremely hoppy, but not overpowering, with a nice malty base, and slight citrus/chardonnay overtones. A rock-solid pale ale.
