My first African beer and was not the most pleasant Im sorry to say. It poured a light yellow, a lot of carbonation, with a white head that was fully diminishing. The aroma almost smelled like apple juice, or at least that is what it reminded me of. It had a little sweetness to the smell, but was all in all a bit confusing. A slight bitterness in the beginning flavor wise, a more or less malty end. The aftertaste was really non-existent and I guess would serve its purpose in East Africa. It was quite watery and with a very light body. Im glad to check this beer off my list, it was nice, but just not for me.

At a tasting, very little bubbly head, clear quite deep yellow color, aroma of yeast and cardboard with some nuttiness, malty fruit flavor, very light bitterness, light sourness. Drinkable but not really good.

500ml Can: Pours a lovely clear golden with white head that retains well. Lacing. Slight fruity aromas as well as some hay. Fruity flavour with a nice crisp and clean finish. Bitterness is good. Medium carbonation, medium to light bodied. Overall a very easy drinking lager.

According to the bottle, this has been brewed in Kenya since 1922. I have no idea how they brewed a lager in Africa in 1922. Appearance is clear gold with little head. It has a floral aroma. Flavour is bready malt, with a crisp floral finish. Carbonation is moderate and body is medium. Im not a big fan of light lagers but it is a clear step above American versions.
