My first African beer and was not the most pleasant I’m sorry to say. It poured a light yellow, a lot of carbonation, with a white head that was fully diminishing. The aroma almost smelled like apple juice, or at least that is what it reminded me of. It had a little sweetness to the smell, but was all in all a bit confusing. A slight bitterness in the beginning flavor wise, a more or less malty end. The aftertaste was really non-existent and I guess would serve it’s purpose in East Africa. It was quite watery and with a very light body. I’m glad to check this beer off my list, it was nice, but just not for me.

This is a very suspect beer. You just have to check some of the ingredients - sugar and cornstarch. I presume this is done for cost reasons. This leads to a very bizarre tasting beer. It is very unpleasant - the few times I have drank it (very limited beer options in Kenya) - it has been flat, with a very unpleasant aftertaste. Try to avoid pouring also as there is a very artificial luminous colour. The very questionable ingredients leads and unpleasant taste leads to a beer which you should avoid. In addition, restaurant/bars in Kenya will ask you if you want this lager served warm (!). Avoid and order the slightly better Tusker Malt.

Very, very light beer. This one has almost no flavor at all, so does not match the category very well, but is highly drinkable. In warm summer weather, I could see drinking a lot of this beer, but can't rate it highly simply because it does not match the category very well.

500ml bottle from The Grumpy Goat, Reading. Light gold colour with white head. Crisp cereal malt, cereal grain, watery sunflower oil, light cardboard. Decent for the style.

From a bottle in an Ethiopean restaurant in Frankfurt. Of course, it is somehow cool to have an African beer in an African place. But then, it's an average Lager, nothing special about it. Drinkable, but with better options available, I would always prefer better brews with good food. No obvious reason to import it.

Bottle. Starts out smooth and clean but suddenly turns bitter and a bit sour as you swallow. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz, single bottle purchsed from Liquor Outlet in Salem OR. $2.39 Clear, bright yellow colour with a white head..that dissapears but leaves lace. Oh aroma! weird like burnt plastic and paper mache . Taste is not so repellent..sweet honey malts and the slightest touch of lemon hops. Mouth feel Ok for style ..thin yet medium carbonation. Not good but happy to try.

Meermaals gedronken in Afrika. Heerlijke verfrissing bij 40 graden, maar wellicht zal het hier veel minder scoren. Puur als pils scoort hij niet super, maar als dorstlesser des te meer.
