Appearance: Near black body capped with a tall, dense coating of tan-colored foam.
Smell: Predominately coffee-scented nose of well roasted grains backed by some modest hints of unsweetened chocolate.
Taste: Sharp start with a jolt of acrid-accented coffee. A square or two from a bar of dark chocolate. Only lightly sweet. Roasty, earthy bitterness hits midway and lasts through to the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Soft, gentle mouthfeel overall.
Drinkability: Simple but sufficient for a coffee stout. Cybercat (5959) - Georgia, USA - MAR 13, 2010
Pours a deep, warm, opaque sable with a fairly thick and persistent fine-bubbled pale beige head. Aroma is strongly of fine roast coffee with an undertone of unsweetened chocolate. Flavor is mainly coffee and has firm, smoky undertones of unsweet chocolate and malt. Texture is velvety smooth and fairly tingly. A must for stouties. On tap at brewpub. Poured a nice black with a tan head. Appeared to have a fair amount of nitrogen from the tap. Aroma was big coffee, with notes of chocolate. Pretty nice and simple. Taste was similarly coffee and roasty. Body was smooth and full. Overall, a nice coffee stout. kp (10882) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - JAN 18, 2009

Pint at the brewpub. This is pretty much black and not nitrogenated like the description claims. The aroma is shockingly rich with distinct, defined roasty coffee in the ballpark of Valdez or Bells Java Stout. The flavor brings more superb fresh roasted, full on coffee with a salty soy sauce backbone. The palate is creamy with low carbonation. This is one exemplary, roasty, hearty coffee stout. Huge props must be given up.
