3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. Pours light gold with good carbonation and a lacy white head. Good nucleation makes for a great appearance. Immediate aroma smothered with orange citrus and grapefruit and a hint of buttery diacetyl underneath. Flavor leans sweet and malty rather than dry and peppery; crystal malt sweetness fades into a beatdown of hops and high alcohol. Notes of rum cake, butterscotch, white raisin. Finish is rather difficult to muster; just a bit over the top for me, lacking the balance and crisp peppery dryness only found in a few top-tier double IPA’s. Still rather enjoyable, I hope to try more of their beers soon.
February 28th, 2015 - Twisted Manzanitas (RIP) didn't shy away from strong beers. Clear and amber, their Chaotic Double IPA looks robust, with its busy looking carbonation. The smell is inviting, with a light floral quality, some rust, and more orange sweetness. There's also a layer of pine which gives it exponentially more appeal than it would have in its absence. The flavor is deep and heavy, with a long liner and teriyaki aftertaste. And when I say long, I mean looooooong. The flavor is also marked by a heavy and overwhelming booziness, though its excessive strength is only revealed in successive sips. rumore (807) - Rimini, ITALY - OCT 3, 2017
From the tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours loaded gold with fine white foam. Aroma is a lot of caramel, resin. Body is very dense and sticky, with quite an alcoholic feeling. Taste has definitely some sweetness, as observed by the density, but most of all an intense bitterness. Finish is very long and very bitter. Still pleasant enough. (Twisted Manzanita Chaotic Double IPA) Tap at BeerTemple, 250 ml into a chalice, again. I’d prefer a different glass every now and then, anyway.

Deep orange colour on the body, mostly clear, with two fingers of thick white head on top, very good retention.
Aroma has light caramel malts, grapefruit and orange peel, light biscuit.
Taste is nicely bitter, nothing too uch, with grapefruit, hints of caramel, oranges, biscuit, tangerine, pine.
Medium body, good carbonation.
Pretty damn good.
Can. Filled to the brim with citrus notes - lemon, mandarine, grapefruit. Also some pineapple. Nicely hopped flavour, balanced by a full body and a light sweetness. Finishing with an alcohol burn, but staying away from alcoholic flavour. Excellent. luttonm (6854) - Seattle, Washington, USA - APR 26, 2016
Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Orange-brown, lacing cream. Funky rotting fruit aroma, dank body. Medium+ weight. Good balance for heavier abv. Nice stinky cheese, relatively clean, medium to bitter. Pretty solid find in NL. zoucrew102 (2154) - - APR 3, 2016
Bomber, thanks Christina! Caramel malt aroma with light notes of tropical fruit and pine resiny hops. Pours cloudy caramel colored with one finger of tan head that has excellent retention and some lacing. Starts with a lot of caramel malty sweetness with very little hop backbone. Finishes smooth with slight notes of tropical fruit hops and pine resiny hop bitterness but not as much as you'd expect from an IPA. Decent and I always appreciate receiving a beer I would normally have, but I believe this one day on the shelf too long. androman (2877) - Maarssen, NETHERLANDS - MAR 25, 2016
On tap at Beertemple, Amsterdam. Nose is citric. Body is opalescent orange, head is big, white, creamy, fully lasting, excellent lacing. Aroma is tropical fruits, grass, steamed vegetables, soap. Medium sweet, medium bitter, light fruity sour. Finish is long lasting hoppy medium bittersweet. Full body, soapy texture, soft carbonation. Quite easy, very tasty, great IPA.
