Clearish nutty light-brown with a pillowy beige head. Smelled like a sushi plate, honestly. Lots of horseradish, ginger, a light nuttiness, and a succulent saucy tone that reminds me of eel sauce on a dragon roll. Really, this beer smells like a sushi plate, and that’s no bad thing. Flavor was, surprisingly, also like sushi, with a spicy tone not unlike soy sauce mixed with a little touch of wasabi (horseradish), creamy tuna roll deliciousness, a subtle nuttiness, and a spicy herbal finish like ginger mixed with horseradish sauce. Earthy brown maltiness on the aftertaste. I don’t know how they did this but this is perhaps the most unique ale ever.

On tap at Twisted Pine. Pours a hazy orange brown with half a finger of diminishing off-white head. Aromas is dominated by ginger and wasabi. Flavor is strong ginger up front with hints of wasabi and a nutty, mildly malty finish. Moderate carbonation and medium body. Ginger gives it a somewhat cleansing finish. Overall a very unique brown ale. BeerandBlues2 (13697) - Escondido, California, USA - AUG 13, 2012
Bottle. Pours clear brown with an average, fizzy light tan to off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is caramel, light coffee, cookie, and nutty malt, nutmeg and cinnamon, dates, figs, and plums with light earthy hops. Flavor is malt and spice dominant, light hops and bitterness with dark fruity esters and a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation. Ratman197 (15216) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - JUL 12, 2012

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, thanks Aaron! Dark brownish pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of...sushi? Yes, big wasabi, horseradish notes, lots of ginger and spice, some biscuit bread, chocolate and slight caramel but dominated by the spice. Taste was like drinking wasabi, but not in a bad way...somehow? Some horseradish, wasabi, ginger notes with some slight nuts, caramel and ginger, finishing fairly sweet but dry and fairly spicy. Unique.

Lots of ginger in the aroma. Also a hint of wasabi. Similar flavor. Unlike anything I’ve ever had. Wouldn’t say I’d drink this on a regular basis, but it’s flavorful in ways I haven’t experienced, and really just a fun beer. cubs (10693) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 20, 2012
Bottle @ Dan’s house. A bit hazy, reddish brown appearance with an off white head. Big ginger, herbal, light veggie, potpourri, floral aroma. Very spicy ginger, light cinnamon, tangy herbal, somewhat citrusy, horse radish, really weird, fun flavor. bu11zeye (13140) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JUN 12, 2012
(Draught) Pours a lightly hazy brown with a small creamy head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, toffee, ginger, and light horseradish. Flavor of caramel, ginger, horseradish, and cocoa with a somewhat flat mouthfeel. Somewhat odd, but interesting to try.
