draft. cloudy dull semi-dark orange with a small off-white ring of a head and no lacing. candy sugar and banana ester-heavy nose with some egg shell sulfuric notes and accents of white pepper, raw wort, cleaning solution, oxidized Belgian pale malt and tropical fruit esters with a heavy dose of old, browned bananas. goopy and chewy full body with high sweetness and high yeastiness. low bitterness; medium acid; starchy texture with cloying sweetness and a dirty yeast profile. honestly I think the brewer’s idea of Belgian beer was formed from shaken, cloudy, yeasty pours from bottles, so they probably think they nailed that "wet paint and sugar and old banana" character found in the dregs of Chimay Blanche or Tripel Karmeliet. that’s the only thing that makes sense here. onceblind (10098) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 23, 2013
At Avery Strong Ale Fest 2013--hazy light golden with a thin foamy head. Nose has strong pineapple notes...and that’s all I smell. Maybe some apricot as well. Taste is really blonde grainy with that pineapple fruitiness coming back. Biscuity yeasty undertones with honey-like sweetness and a strong grainy/fruity presence. At twisted pine. Pours a hazy orange gold with a half finger of fine white head. Settles quickly with sheets of thin lacing. Aroma is fruity with dough/bread tones. Flavor is sweet up front, fades into fruity tones, apple, banana, with a mildly hoppy finish. Nice tones from belgian yeast. Very good job masking alcohol. Soft to moderate carbonation and medium body. A tasty belgian strong ale. Ratman197 (15105) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - JAN 28, 2013
