Bottle. Pours a very dark (almost black) with a moderate tan head. Nose has strong coffee and roasted notes, which makes it really inviting. Taste is great - lots of coffee notes in there, but isn’t too sweet. blueshockey24 (607) - Colorado, USA - MAY 6, 2005
Nice Brown Head, Dark Chocolate Coffee Smell, Smokey / Malty Dark Chocolate Coffee taste. Nice chocolate coffee aftertaste. Light and well balanced. Out of the 4 or 5 coffee beers that I have consumed this is my personal favorite. Currently it is only available on draft at the Boulder brewery. It may be available in bombers soon as it has been very popular. With so many great beers in Colorado this place in my opinion doesn’t get the publicity it deserves. thetmaxx (917) - West Sacramento, California, USA - OCT 11, 2013
I believe I got a collaboration brew with boulder beer. Aroma is nice with coffee notes and other roasted dark malts. Flavor also has the intense espresso flavor which is really nice. This reminds me a lot of Lagunitas espresso brew. Love these! MissouriBrent (122) - Missouri, USA - JUL 31, 2010
Massive coffee aroma. Smells like a fresh cup of espresso. The thick head reminds me of the creme you expect on a good espresso. Dark black color. Very nice coffee flavor that works well with the malt sweetness. The rich, full mouthfeel is very nice. I’m not sure what more you could want from a coffee stout. Easy drinking and very tasty. anthony850 (472) - Andover, New Jersey, USA - DEC 23, 2013

UPDATED: OCT 1, 2013 4 oz sample at the brewery, 4/15/06: Verrrrrry nice. Pleasant little twist on coffee/mocha flavors. Good alternative to coffee for breakfast. One of the two best here at TPBC. I’d buy again! <<Actually I did, on 2/22/2009 ... in the bottle. Pure coffee aroma and 100% coffee character. Ultimate coffee beer I think I’ve ever tasted. Excellent and upgraded rating>> Kevin (2199) - Montana, USA - AUG 15, 2006
tap at the brewery. dark almost pitch black with a brown head. amazing coffee nose, like being in a nice coffee house with a bowl of chocolate ice cream. smooth wet coffee flavor with light caramel & a chocolate finish. bitter coffee flavor works so well in this. drpimento (3639) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 27, 2011
Great espresso breakfast stout! Let it warm a bit out of the fridge. Poured with a nice, large, foamy, frothy, thick, slow to settle, tan head and good lace. Color is an opaque brown black. Aroma is what I expected, fresh, rich coffee, dark roast malt, toffee, cocoa, caramel and a bit of yeast. Flavor is much like nose, plus has some good tang to add some zestiness to the richness. Body is perfect and ditto carbonation for the style. Finish is like flavor and nothing appears to tarnish the experience. Don’t know if it’d be session. A cold pour produces a thick blackish sludge w/ a two finger head. Good head retention and the creamy lacing sticks to the end. Strong aromas of full on espresso. Full nectar w/ good carbonation crates a soft fiberous texture. Dry w/ big roasted espresso flavors that climb through the sludge like a creature emerging from a watery tomb. Secondary flavors of dark cocoa, leather, and a pinch of chipotle pepper to finish w/ superb bittering. A beautiful specimen. HopsWhisperer (10) - , North Carolina, USA - OCT 10, 2008
This beer had a beautiful pour into a tulip glass. Very dark and rich, with a dark roasted tan head that was very thick and continually rebuilt itself every time I swirled the glass.
Aromas of roasted malt and fresh brewed coffee.
Taste was not overpowering; instead, it was a nicely balanced stout with a definite coffee flavor. Not overly bitter or hoppy.
Very easy to drink. Not too thick, but still with enough body to satisfy.
Not sure of the ABV, but not too strong, making it a nice beer to sip and enjoy, leaving the palate ready for a refill.
