3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz Bottle. The pour was a clear dark reddish amber with an average (1-2 finger) tan creamy head that diminished down to a large puddled film and small collar with excellent sticky sheets of lacing.
The aroma was of a sweet caramel malt, floral hops and a doughy yeast with notes of toffee, citrus (orange), dark fruit (figs and dates), candi sugar and a mild alcohol presence.
The taste was extremely malty with a slight caramel sweetness and a strong dark fruit presence from the start, and then became decently hoppy with a nice sweet toffee presence and a light citrus peel bitterness towards the finish. The flavor hung around for a very long time proceeding the swallow, with a bitter sweet citrus peel taste lingering on along with an slow creeping alcohol warming sensation.
Mouthfeel was almost medium in body with a nice dry texture and a soft mellow carbonation.
Overall this was a very tasty Barleywine: even though I did find to be pretty basic for the style, it did posses an nice hoppy bite. I did however expect a much bitterer flavor with an IBU of 120...
This bitter beast of a barleywine sure would be fun fresh. The one we had was a 2011. Still bitter, but more balanced than a newer 120 ibu beer could be. Pretty classic flavors. Tofee, caramel, bitter and piney hops. Solid all around though not a standout." SudsMcDuff (8462) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - AUG 14, 2013
wow, fuck me right!?! .. why did i buy this? knew it was gonna be rough but honestly not as bad .. . lots of oxidation, copper, blood, deep malts, sweet wood, and chewy penny bark .. . mouth is tough .. . abv is low, but the aging has really turned this into a complex aged monster.. . first sip was very rough but as it warms, the aged feel cuts into it, a bit good, a lot bad, but overly its a nice beer .. . so weird, i’m torn- not really enjoying it but what has come out of the aging would probably be loved by some .. . . save tinkerbell? and all i need to do is clap... rather not... fonefan (50004) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JUN 28, 2013

Pours clear amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes malt, caramel, alcohol and fruits. Taste is heavy sweet and light bitter. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Bottle, 22oz. An almost clear one, golden to amber in color and with a small, dense, light beige head. The aroma is piney and resiny, with malty sweetness, and some alcohol notes. It’s quite bitter and warming on the palate, with soft carbonation and flavors of malty sweetness and pine cones. Lasting finish with a solid dose of bitterness. Overall, a nice one, but a bit rough and not superb. 130216 Papsoe (25060) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - FEB 16, 2013
Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a hazy reddish amber with a small off-white head. Lightly oxidized burned caramel in the nose. Rich body, burned caramel, slightly woody and spicy with enough hops in the finish to prevent it from ever getting cloying. 160213 chrisv10 (17936) - DENMARK - FEB 16, 2013
