tap at the brewpub - Pours clear dark brown with a thin head. It really smells like honey. The taste is similar. There’s a lot of honey in this one along with the caramel malt flavors. It’s bubbly on the palate and very sweet. It’s not bad though maybe it could be balanced better. RSRIZZO (1986) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - DEC 1, 2007
Had this beer on 3/30/1999. Color is a deep brown with low carbonation and a thin head. Aroma is a nice sweet roasted malt scent. Taste is rich and sweet. It starts with a medium body that goes down heavy with a bit of bite. The finish is a sweet malt flavor with a rich alcohol taste to it and a light bitterness. troyc (2869) - Illinois, USA - OCT 12, 2007
(Bottle) Pours a brown color with a small tan head. Aroma of light caramel. Taste is pretty similar, with some toffee. Sweet, but thin bodied. Not particularly well balanced either, but I would drink it again. Lumpy (1802) - Carrollton, Texas, USA - JUN 3, 2007
Body-reddish body with a thin ring of bubbles and medium film of bubbles., Nose-cereal, malt extract. Taste-everything is muted and medium, lightly sour, murning, medium sweet, blah, thin. chef201atc (261) - Fort Worth, Texas, USA - MAY 17, 2007
Clear brownish copper. Not much going on in the nose - some caramel. Palate is very light, mild carbonation. Not much flavor - very light caramel.

Pours a plain-jane brown. Aroma is astringent and off, but there’s some light caramel and wood behind the weirdness. Tastes....brown? Mildly hoppy in the finish, but very little about this beer left much of an impression at all. Drinkable. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - MAY 13, 2007
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2010 (Bottle and Draught samples) Pours a clear brown body with a creamy beige head. Aroma of honey, caramel, soapiness, spruce, grass, chocolate, and citrus. Flavor of light grassy hops, toasted malt, chocolate and honey. Kevin (2199) - Montana, USA - MAR 9, 2007
bottle. brown pour that is easily seen through with a coal hued white head that remains as a skin throughout. tree bark and honey nose with a bit of walnut. taste is well, unremarkable, thin mouthfeel, light oaky cashew flavor with a freshly cleaned glass flavor. if you’ve ever licked a clean razor blade you already know what this tastes like. jcwattsrugger (12420) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - NOV 4, 2006
on tap-pours a thin, light tan head with lacing and ruby red with brown color. Aroma is sweet-honey medium malt. Taste is sweet-honey medium malt-caramel, roasty. Faint hops. Medium/full body. harlequinn (2744) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - JUL 15, 2006
A lighter styled brown ale, with a bit of a nutty caramel nose. Bittersweet honey in the background of the malt profile, with a bit of a black tea flavor going on as well. Just enough roastiness, not bad, but not great.
