Hoppy Boy India Pale Ale is the flagship beer of Twisted Pine. It has a rocky white head, hazy pale orange color, and hoppy citrus aroma. It has a dry, tart taste with an earthy bitterness. Cascade hops provide pleasant grapefruit and citrus notes. This classic American IPA is brewed with medium caramel malts that play off the citrus and orange rind hop flavors to make this beer most enjoyable.

Pours clear dark orange with a small white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is pine, grapefruit, and burnt sugar. Taste is earthy with some piney spicy hops, but a little watery.

From Oct 2006

Poured from 22oz bottle a clear amber gold with a smallish head of foam that pretty much maintains its size for the entire session.
Btw, they have a year and month bottled on the label but nothing was notched.

The smell is on the subtle side with faint whiffs of grassy and citrusy hops.

The taste is really grassy and it has some good citrus flavour as well..mainly lemon, with a really faint malt presence but... I *like* what the hops are doing in this IPA and it's making for some really good drinkability so being weak in the malt isn't going to hurt my review of this American IPA at all. Good stuff!

Bottom line: A nice American IPA from a small brewery in Boulder Colorado. Give it a chance if you find some.

12oz bottle. Hazy orange color with an off white head. Grain hops aroma. Strong hops flavor up front with a hops malt finish. Medium heavy body with a bitter finish. Definitely a hops focused beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy orange amber with thinck bubbly foamy white head; aroma is sweet woody floral malt hop balance; flava malt roast molasses notes then some hop bitters; feels light to medium and lively fizzy; finishes dry bitter with woody notes

[Bottle (12oz)] Pours a cloudy golden-orange with an average size lasting frothy off-white head. Minimal lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, bread, citrus hops, citrus peel and finally, earthy and herbal notes. Flavour of caramel malt, resiny hops, citrus, light vegetal notes and a long bitter finish -- hops mostly come through in the finish. Medium bodied. Something doesn’t quite gel here, it’s just decent.

Hotel room breakfast tasting with Jack & Leighton, Hilton Tampa, 22/02/15.
Golden orange with a moderate off white covering.
Nose is caramel malt, light pine, bitter citric peel.
Taste is caramel malt forward, orange, light pine, toasted malt.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
So so - generic old skook brew pub malt driven IPA affair.

Pours a light coppery color with off-white head. Caramel malt, light citrus, and funky pine notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with more malt than hop.

Bottle at home. Pours a copper color, white head, dissipates into a thin laced film. Aroma is caramel malts, orange and citrusy hops. Taste is slightly earthy, citrusy hops, lots of cracker and caramel malts. Malts overpower the hops, finishes with an underwhelming bitterness. Palate is medium body, high carbonation. Malts wash out some good favors in this one. Below average IPA.

Bottle shared during RBWG 2015. Pours clear orange gold with a frothy white head. Pale bread in the aroma, rindy orange. Medium sweet flavor with crackery pale malts, old pine needles, citrus peel, metal. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Boring finish, perhaps a bit aged, with dusty pine, leaves, dry citrus, more crackers. So so.

Not your prototypical ipa but I kind of enjoyed it. Soft but passable hop aroma w/ a clear golden pour & thin white head. The taste has an underlying bitterness but isn’t dry & is quite drinkable. I understand the low scores for the style but found it to be a decent beer overall!

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin. Thanks Tom L. Pours orange with a huge head, aroma of bubblegum, lemon, banana, flavor of bubblegum, banana, clove, lemon and vanilla, medium bodied.
