COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoppy Knight is brewed to celebrate Twisted Pine’s 15th Anniversary and is named after our founder and craft beer industry legend Gordon Knight. This India-style Black Ale tastes like a big classic IPA but pours dark as night. A very subtle sweetness and roastiness is provided by the carafa malt, but this beer is really all about the hops(85 IBUs). Hoppy Knight is heavily dry-hopped to provide a wonderful floral aroma. Citrusy grapefruit flavors hit you up front and linger through to the finish.

Robe brune, belle mousse. Arômes café et chocolat. À la fois amère et fumé et fumée. Amertume marquée. Longue en bouche. Une excellente IPA.

Jet black with a finely beaded tan head. Aroma of roast malt and floral hops. Firm hop bitterness, rich burnt carmel and espresso flavors, followed by more bittters, this time from the dark malts. Big, tasty, and well integrated flavors. Really nice.

Bottle. Pours an almost-black color with very little head. Floral hoppy notes hit you right off the bat. Smack in the face. Taste has some great floral and citrus notes. Balanced well without being too hoppy.

Bottle: What a great Black IPA / India Black Ale / Cascadian Dark -- or whatever you care to call it. Clear and deep chestnut brown. Lightish, easy-to-drink texture. Massive blast of spicy hops from the beginning to end. Big, lasting notes of pine, grapefruit, oranges and grass. Aromatic, wildflower-like aromas. Perfect amount of bitterness along with a mild sweetness. Woodsy malts take the backseat to the hops, as they should, and they provide a nice platform for the hops. And right in the finish, there’s an awesome sweet flavor that I can’t put my finger on. Overall, I was really impressed with this IBA.

Bottle. Pours a thick, dense onyx with a lingering head of beige that clings nicely to the glass. Nose is light mango with grapefruit and rose. Flavor is hoppy pine sap offset by a delicate sourdough and rose. Oily on the tongue. Wow; VERY tasty. Definite repeat. Love the pine backbone.

Tasted June 1, 2014 at an industry event. Pours dark brown with moderate head and lace. Aroma of dark malts, flowery hops. Moderate carbonation and significant mouthfeel. Flavors of dark roasted malts, bitter chocolate, straw and grassy hops. Overall big, bold, complex with some bitter notes.
