Sampled on 10/9/2012. This rye beer pours a dark amber brown color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. with nice lacing. The aroma is caramel, fruity and spicy, with some rye and some hops. A medium to full bodied rye beer. The malts are caramel, bready and sweet. The hops are piney and citrusy. Decent carbonation. Nice rye spiciness and a fairly sweet malty finish. There are some fairly aggressive hops as well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is mostly bitter, with some sweet malts. Beerenberger (1605) - Fischer, Texas, USA - JUL 27, 2013
The nose is sweet. Toasted malts, caramel, and hints of rye. Pours a rich dark amber with ruby highlights and a small, rapidly dissipating, ivory head. Moderate lacing present. The taste is primarily bitter. Some sweet malt and red fruit noted upfront but they are quickly replaced with a spicy/peppery rye middle and a hoppy finish and aftertaste. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, while sweetness is present, this is a hop forward beer. Nice attempt to balance the two flavors.

Pours clear dark amber color with off white head. Aromas of toasted malts, pine, rye, and caramel. Sweet caramel and.toasted malt flavors with some spicy rye and pine hops. A little earthy. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Suttree (6541) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 1, 2012
Sweet up front, which is kinda odd. Usually a beer hits you with hops, then a sweet part, then a sweet finish, but this one is more sweetish, the a subtle hop bite, and a very dry finish. Nice mix of caramel and molasses and rye, and grassy hops. mar (5456) - Dallas, Texas, USA - OCT 24, 2012
deep amber pour with a cream head. nose is toffee, caramel, bitter, piney, and grainy. nice on the palate, grainy rye notes, backed by dough, and a bitter finish. rougeau13 (3279) - Richmond, Texas, USA - AUG 16, 2012
Dark, clear, ruby-brown with a small beige head. Lacing pretty thick. Aroma of caramel, earth and pine. Taste is malty, bitter, and metallic. Medium bodied. Ok. IPAsavedMYlife (346) - St. Petersburg, Florida, USA - NOV 5, 2012
Aroma is def with funky munich malts, and some very light chocolate notes. Honey and caramel are in there as well. Very aromatic. Color is a very dark hue, nice carbonation. Rye is mostly present in the taste. Taste is a bit discombobulated, but different, they didn’t all mesh well. Aftertaste is spicy with some caramel. Pretty forgettable beer overall, from a brewery that was so highly acclaimed at GABF. This brewery pretty much sucks to me.
