3.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma is def with funky munich malts, and some very light chocolate notes. Honey and caramel are in there as well. Very aromatic. Color is a very dark hue, nice carbonation. Rye is mostly present in the taste. Taste is a bit discombobulated, but different, they didn’t all mesh well. Aftertaste is spicy with some caramel. Pretty forgettable beer overall, from a brewery that was so highly acclaimed at GABF. This brewery pretty much sucks to me.
The nose is sweet. Toasted malts, caramel, and hints of rye. Pours a rich dark amber with ruby highlights and a small, rapidly dissipating, ivory head. Moderate lacing present. The taste is primarily bitter. Some sweet malt and red fruit noted upfront but they are quickly replaced with a spicy/peppery rye middle and a hoppy finish and aftertaste. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, while sweetness is present, this is a hop forward beer. Nice attempt to balance the two flavors. Bottle. Pours clear mahogany with a large, frothy light tan head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is light fresh apple and pear esters, faint apricot notes with pine, citrus, and floral hops, background notes of spicy rye and cracker malt. Flavor is medium to moderate hops, medium bitterness with the spicy rye accentuating this a bit, lightly sweet supporting malt with faint fruity esters late, and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation. Palidor19 (3188) - Brandon, Florida, USA - JAN 11, 2013
kinda of dry with a thin palate. the malts and hops are both equal, the taste at the end very dry and has a very clean taste. its kinda unique nick76 (4399) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JAN 11, 2013
The aroma is quite hoppy with pine and citrus with rye and paper. The appearance is deep amber with a medium head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall this is an average beer.

Sampled on 10/9/2012. This rye beer pours a dark amber brown color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. with nice lacing. The aroma is caramel, fruity and spicy, with some rye and some hops. A medium to full bodied rye beer. The malts are caramel, bready and sweet. The hops are piney and citrusy. Decent carbonation. Nice rye spiciness and a fairly sweet malty finish. There are some fairly aggressive hops as well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth.
