Dark brown color with tan sheen. Big dark roast, tequila, wood aromas. Sweet fruity tequila flavors with wood, dry black malts--good kidmartinek (5001) - austin, Texas, USA - OCT 22, 2011
A very dark brown beer, but not black. It has a quickly diminishing, light tan head. The aroma is of sweet black malt, milk and sugar. The taste is of wet barley, dry cocoa and bittering hops. It finishes with a punch and a slight burn. Good? That’s for you to decide. Satisfying?... you’re damn straight. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - OCT 30, 2011
On tap at the Draught House at the 43rd Anniversary party.
The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is a mix of lightly roasted malts with just a little bit of cocoa, as well as a little bit of oak and some spice. For a beer that has more than 8 percent alcohol you can’t really detect any in the aroma.
The flavor is where the tequila aging becomes more evident. I get quite a bit of earthiness and oak in the flavor, as well as some of the lightly toasted/roasted malt from the aroma. There is a little bit of spice in the flavor, possibly from the barrel aging. The chocolate from the aroma was not really present in the flavor. The alcohol is well hidden.
Medium mouthfeel and low carbonation.

Deep brown in color with off-white head. Roasty with a touch of tequilla but not so noticable if you dont know about the tequila...and a touch of lager yeastiness. Light but roasty malt aroma.

Pours deep mahogany with a musty prune and caramelized molasses nose. Flavor is nice, raisiny cocoa with a dry tequilla finish. Average mouthfeel. Not bad.
This was a very good beer it was blended very smooth between the hops and the malts. I really enjoyed this beer.

Brown black pour with creamy tan head and lace. Aroma is light coffee and roasted malt. Sweet toasted malt flavor, a hinto coffee, and abv. Medium bodied with good carbonation. thirdeye11 (6162) - Dallas, Texas, USA - NOV 4, 2011
(Draught) espresso brown pour with creamy tan head. Nose of graham cracker, toasted coconut, sweet chocolate, chocolate cream, rich, raisins, and a bit herbal. Taste of coconut, tons of oak, chocolate malt, cream, a bit lacking in chocolate flavor from what I expected based on the nose, and somewhat under-carbonated. Light body with an odd medicinal linger.
