Black color with small compact brownish head. Strong aroma of roasted malts, coffee, light ashes, light bread. Lean body, soft mouthfeel, off-dry in the front; nice roasted malt flavor, some dark chocolate. Not too ashy; there is a touch of liquorice; a bit dusty in the final; strong bitterness, with a reasonable share of hop resins.
Nice example, well drinkable.
Thanks, Alex! Dark brown, rich chocolatey/fudgey aroma with a splash of coffee. Bittersweet character, lots of bitter chocolate, just a touch of nuttiness and a lingering bitter finish. Really good example. mcberko (17178) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 12, 2012

22oz bottle. Dark brown / red color. Still clear on the edges. Thin khaki head. Good spread and ropes of lace. Smooth, crisp lighter carbonation. Bigger body. Lightly sticky finish. Lightly dry. Bigger bitter taste, moderate sweet. Bigger roasty malt, some molasses, light dark chocolate. Some piney hop. Solid black IPA. Besides the pronounced, lightly cloying sweetness, 8.4% worked solidly. drowland (8629) - Georgia, USA - FEB 25, 2012

22. Pours black with a creamy but very scant off-white head. Loose sheets of lace coming down the sides. Big toasty nose, a little bit of baker’s chocolate in there, along with nice resiny pine notes. Creamy medium body, a little watery in spots, soft carb. Toasty, roasty, ashy, beef jerky mid palate. Long bitter finish. Dark and heavy flavors carried by a fairly light body.
