Nice stout-like dark ale. Less malty flavors than you'd see a stout, and more hoppy flavors instead. Very robust flavor, with lingering bitterness. Solid!

Bottle: Deep brown-black with a foamy, tightly packed, tan head. Great-looking lace. Rich and meaty on the tongue. Wholesome and toasted. Charred flavors of multigrain bread, dark chocolate, cocoa powder and wood. Hops are citrusy and piney with a subtle, spruce-like sweetness. Healthy amount of grassy bitterness to boot. Solid CDA. andrewje41 (4245) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - APR 26, 2014
Nitro draft at the brewery. Thick and creamy pour with roasted malt and coffee. Stands up with a lot of stouts. Very well done. Oakes (18794) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 22, 2014
Thanks, Alex! Dark brown, rich chocolatey/fudgey aroma with a splash of coffee. Bittersweet character, lots of bitter chocolate, just a touch of nuttiness and a lingering bitter finish. Really good example. Nena (963) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 14, 2011
Black pour, off-white head. Pretty mild nose, grainy roasty aroma, with citrus and herby hops, Nice roastiness on the flavor with lots of hops and bitterness, more citrus and a bit of that mentholly hit that black IPAs often have. Very nice, would like to have it again.

In a small tapered glass, on tap at The Met. Black as the ace of spades. Little head on this sample. Taste is overwhelmingly of malt and molasses, with a back note of hops on the way down. Nice. Zeswaft (1780) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 16, 2012
On tap at the brewery. Wowza. This was quite exceptional. Tons of pine hops all over the aroma and flavor. Nicely countered with roasty malts. I had no idea this was hiding 8.5% until the bartender said something after i was halfway through. I’m definitely going to snag some bombers of this in the future.
