COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cane and Ebel is one of a series of special limited-run beers in styles that are more extreme or unusual. This unique red rye beer is full of hop flavor and aroma. We add 35 pounds of Thai palm sugar to each batch. The sugar does not add much sweetness to the beer, but rather a fruity and vanilla-like flavor. A new hop variety called Summit is really showcased here. This 18%AA hop is also very aromatic which gives a pungent citrus aroma. Then we heavily dry hopped the beer with Simcoe.

Pours a deep amber color from the bottle with a nice tan head. The sugary sweetness is readily apparent on the nose with notes of molassess, malt, caramel, and faint raisin in the flavor. Good stuff.

I liked this one a whole lot. Its a real nice skunky resiny red ale with a fat body and a heavy spicy aftertaste. This one is super round and malty, too. Overall, it kinda reminds me of a an amber ale crossed with an imperial IPA, but you know, good. It also reminds me of Arrogant Bastard, too. I wish I could drink a bomber of it while watching WWE Fastlane right now, but alas all I have is my memories. Good for same seat side cuddling, etc.

12 oz bottle with a 22 April 2017 BB date stamp. Excellent clarity in a deep red-brown body. Good off-white head with decent retention. Aroma: lots of toffee and faint rye. Alcohol esters. Flavor: moderately strong and bitter; plenty of spicy rye flavors. Feel: smooth, medium+ body.

12 oz bottle pours a clear copper color with medium beige head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is mostly rye and vanilla, with some pine resin. Taste is honey sweet with the hops and even some roasted coffee in the finish. Body is medium with slight carbonation and a sticky mouthfeel. This is one of the few Two Brothers beers I look forward to finding again. It is well balanced and memorable, without any gimmicks.

The aroma is heavy vanilla, cane sugar, slight booze and a very small amount of hops and rye. Nice crimson color with a lasting cap of cream colored foam. Heavy lacing on the glass. Honey sweetness up front with a finish of clean non-bitter hops. Very good balance. Inoffensive palate, very drinkable, surprisingly light but it works here. Two Brothers is a brewery that is growing on me.

Un-Muzzling Olde Muzzlehatch Ratings, #3. 2006 bottle (22 oz) consumed on November 10, 2008 in Burlington, VT, from a Duvel glass at slightly below cellar temperature (to start). Pours with a large, billowing head that is faintly tan (or taupe? I always get those mixed up - taupe sounds more geeky though so lets go with that), leaving some thick, chunky lacing behind as it recedes to a murky rust-copper body. Aroma is very sweet, redolent of bubblegum and fruity berries, a bit mushy and perhaps slightly oxidized at this point...a terrific soft mouthfeel with light prickliness, the body is quite sweet on the front but becomes tart, oxidized and sour towards the finish, which is burnt coffee and strikes me (or struck me) as rather odd. Not exactly great, but interesting, and Ill have to try a fresher bottle soon.
