12oz bottle from JoshuaB. Pours a light orangish/amber color with a small white head. Very clear beer. Nose is caramel malt, lots of butterscotch. Taste is lightly malty with caramel, some light butterscotch here, random candied fruits. jimhilt (2625) - Bow, New Hampshire, USA - NOV 30, 2005
Pours with a three-finger head that fades to a ring leaving some lace. Cloudy amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is a earthy hop. Starts slightly hoppy has an earthy spice flavor, finish is clean, more hops than malts. $1.85 for a 12oz bottle from Julio’s Liquors Westborough, Ma. The tempting aroma of sweet prunes, toffee and sour grapes is very unusual to me, but this is the first Biere de Garde I have tried. I’m not sure if I’m smelling a fruity yeast esther, but it’s great smelling whatever it is. The sweet caramel malts and loads of fruitiness rush in to quickly fill my mouth on first sip. The body is nicely complex, moving from to sweet to almost sour. An interesting style that I will definitely be searching out. SpringsLicker (3677) - Tennessee, USA - NOV 18, 2005
Clear dark orange body under a small off white head.
Perhaps this one is off a bit, but it has a slight vinegar aroma. Some sweetness in the flavor combined with a spritzy dryness and an acidic finish. Nice mouth feel, but not the right flavor to go with it. mmmbeergood (14) - Elburn, Illinois, USA - NOV 3, 2005
Growler from the brewery. Nice copper color. Good balance between malt and hops. Very refreshing. I have no problem finishing the growler off in one siiting.

Amber, clear, head... slightly off white, aroma is earthy, hint of flowers, some sweet malt, flavor is of toasted bread, some caramel, lightly nutty, with a pleasant light hoppy finish. Enjoyable. MattShizzle (618) - Bernville, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 22, 2005
Wow. This is a good beer. Never had the Biere de Garde style before. I like it. twindadplus2 (736) - Wisconsin, USA - OCT 19, 2005
Slightly murky, copper color with a decent off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt and dried fruit. Flavor is very smooth with caramel and spice and a nice piney bitter finish. Medium bodied with a velvety smooth mouthfeel. A very good and complex beer. Ughsmash (7510) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 1, 2005
Bottle BB 10/18/05. Reddish-copper pour with a very nice 1/4" of off-white head. Bright aroma of sweet caramel malt, bread, and some floral hops in there. Flavor picked up a ton of the caramel, but there was also a nice spice array and some noble hops. Very smooth and pleasing mouthfeel, and the hops provided a nice bitterness toward the finish. This brew really struck some good chords with me. RAYBOY01 (2010) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 25, 2005
Expecting a saison, didn’t get one, but pleasantly surprised anyway. Roasted malt with caramel/bread/cookie dough but with a pretty decent hop bitterness to keep the sweetness in check. I enjoyed this even not knowing what I was getting.
