3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: APR 11, 2005 Bottled. Great stuff. Nice malty aroma behind a head that disappears a little too quickly. Taste of orange and some light spiciness comes through, finishes off with a note of red wine.
Re-rate, 4/10/05. Okay, this was one of my earlier ratings, and I finally had a second bottle from my original sixer (others have gone out in trade). My impressions still hold true, but it’s just not worth the 4.1 I first assigned. A slight note of brett mars the second sampling, but this is a two-year old bottle. I had taken the name of the style literally and was cellaring it outside my fridge, probably not a good idea for a 5.9% beer.
Where: Old Line Fine Wine Spirits & Bistro.
How: 12 ounce bottle.
Color is amber with a 2 finger khaki head. Decent retention and spotty lacing. Aroma is malty with a slight floral scent from noble hops. Flavor is on the sweeter maltier side with minimal hops. Not too exciting, but good flavor. Lighter body with nice carbonation. Simple beer that I would like some oak or must in along with the hops. Pretty good, but nothing ridiculous. Medium caramel color light head/carb. Aromas caramel, hay, slight pumpkin, slight bubblegum. Flavors hay, light caramel, slight maize, light cereal. Medium sweet. slight burnt toasted finish. Just ok. Hopper8 (197) - Holland, Michigan, USA - JUL 3, 2017
It’s a good beer, it’s very easy to drink and it’s enjoyable. Yet, it’s really lacking in complexity and it’s a bit too simple. Really relies on the yeast. rosskyle (736) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUN 27, 2017
Served on tap at Sheffields. Clear red color with a white head. Malty toffee up front that tails off. Medium body.

Heavy malty flavor, the malt character overtakes the rest of the attributes.

Der würzige Mr. Kupfer flaniert auf der Rosenblätterpromenade. Leider etwas zu plump & sweet, obwohl 😁...Strawberry Field!?:). Tap. STONE BREWERY BERLIN. 0,15/3,20. randy1969 (54) - Marengo, Illinois, USA - APR 17, 2017

Clear amber pour into New Glarus pint glass. Aromas of toffee, caramel, and dough. Starts of toasty and toffeeish. Slight bitterness that has an earthy and smooth finish. Some butterscotch in the finish as well. snoworsummer (5776) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - FEB 23, 2017
From a bottle. Pours clear amber with a fizzy off white head. Tastes like dried fruits, toffee malt, caramel, orange hops, and faint herb. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like toffee malt, caramel, orange hops, and faint herb. ajnepple (6707) - Denver, Colorado, USA - FEB 2, 2017
12 oz single bottle, "BEST BY 02/04/16", almost a year ago :( thanks(?) to Total Wine & More - Gilbert, AZ. Hazy reddish to amber in appearance with a small, lingering beige head. Aroma of caramel malt, light earthy yeast, toasted grain, light fruity esters and light musty hops. Similar flavor, medium to heavy, lingering sweetness with just a touch of hop bitterness. Light to medium body with soft carbonation and a smooth creamy feel. A little too sweet for me, kind of hard to finish this one. Not too bad I guess, considering its age (©2014). Tastes like a generic amber ale at this point.
