Outstanding IPA,. Pours a dark hazy orange, great head. Aroma is hop tones but lightly subdued. A familiar hop nose(cascade?) The taste is extremely well balanced between the obvous malt presence and the hop. Finish crisp and bitter!!

Draft at Blind Tiger, NYC. Waxy grapefruit. Dark ruby/mahogany pour. Big and smooth, crisp and robust. Ruby, grapefruit, alcohol. Malty finish with some hop bite, but definitely leaning towards the malt. Reminds of a big red.

In short: Rich creamy caramelized malts and smooth but tasty fruity/floral bitterness. Very good brew
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed relatively fresh about 3 months after first rating. Sent to me by tytoanderso, thanks a lot Tyler
The look: Almost clear dark golden body topped by a medium beige head
In long: Nose is floral and citrusy with rich caramel. Taste has a lot of creamy fruity caramel. Plenty of C hops but the tasty fruity/floral bitterness is never aggressive. Very rich and tasty fluffy caramel. The beer is a bit similar to the better known Shipyard XXXX IPA. I prefer my hoppy beer a little drier but this one really worked for me as some kind of uber-hoppy light barley wine. Good beer. I wonder if the brewery is operated by two siblings or if Two Niggers was simply deemed too politically incorrect.

Bomber shared by chswimmer on BA. Thanks, Craig! This bottle seemed aged and a bit past prime, but since it was already oak aged, I figure its worth a review. Pours a clear copper color with a decently formed white head. Aroma is very oaky and woody with caramel as well as citrusy and resinous hops. Fairly sweet, with lots of caramel malt on the flavor. Also some serious oakiness going on. As for the hop aroma and flavor, this actually seemed a little "lighter handed" but the bitterness is definitely there. Could have been due to age. Hop profile is mainly resin and citrus. Medium-full bodied and only mildly syrupy. This actuall works pretty well as sort of a lower ABV barleywine. May have been better fresh, but the aged version is a solid beer in its own right.

22 oz. bottle, $7 at Binnys, Dec. 09. "Oak Foudre Aged." Pours dark amber in my Goose IPA stem, dark brown in the center, with two finger yellowish head. Hop smell is not too heavy, like a cross between pine resin and honey. I can get a bigger noseful if I position myself just right, though. Mmmm. Taste is a big wide paintbrush slapping a hop tea reduction right on my tongue. Plenty of sturdy malts are there, but the main feature is the pile of hops, almost but not exactly masking the alcohol. A studmuffin beer!

22oz - Aroma is full of caramel and resinous pine hops and a touch of oak. Flavor starts with doughy caramel malts followed by tangy hops. Palate starts creamy and finishes bitter. A very tasty DIPA.
