Pours a deep orange color, bordering on amber with a big semi loose head. The aroma is very malty, and I detect a tiny bit of woody earthiness. The beer has some nice fruit aromas, particularly pronounced is the cherry. The flavor is nicely sharp and not as sweet as the aroma lets on. Plenty of toasty malt and subdued nuttiness. The woodiness comes through a lot more apparently in the flavor than the aroma but it’s mild and fit’s well with everything else going on here. As the beer warms a good bit of cherry comes through and the hops, while not very distinct provide a nice enough mild bitterness throughout. This is perfectly nice beer, I would like to see what it is like without the oak-ing. topherh (1928) - Kearney, Missouri, USA - JUN 29, 2011
On tap poured coppery with a thin off white head. Aroma is caramel and light woody notes. Flavor is light caramel, bready, with some wood and earthy notes and a bit of bitterness. Acknud (1081) - Morganfield, Kentucky, USA - JUN 22, 2011
Something is wrong here. It looks pretty but tastes horrid, Very metallic with strong metallic aftertaste. GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - JUN 18, 2011
Draft. Poured a clear dark orange color with a tan head. Soft caramel aroma with a whiff of citrus. Light to medium bodied and slightly sweet with understated toffee, graham cracker, pine, and citrus flavors. zdk (1917) - New York, New York, USA - JUN 1, 2011
bottle shared by murphym45 - brown pour. Aroma is malty with woody oak. Caramel and bready malts, caramel. Again, more woodiness but not overpowering. smooth bodied but body is not too heavy. Finishes with light hops. Decent.

Bottle. Poured clear brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate complex balanced aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft drinkable beer. Pours orange amber with notes of caramel malts. The body shows off in a medium style and you get the larger sense of the caramel and bready from the malt. I get a nice light hit of hops oin the ending. for an easy beer, this is pretty spot on. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - APR 21, 2011
Thanks to Ryan for giving me a few bottles of this. Served in a Surly pint glass.
Pours a moderately-dark copper color with a single-finger off-white head. A bit of spotty lacing and a nice cap and collar as it goes down. The nose brings some slightly-caramelized malt along with a touch of fruit and some toffee. The taste is mildly bitter and somewhat sweet, mostly focusing on bready malt with a bit of caramel. Medium body with lower levels of carbonation. Pretty nice all around. I’d certainly pick this up again.

12oz bottle. Rating #62. Dark copper with a light haze and a thin white head. Light sweetness with a bit of wet cardboard as well. Tastes a little past it’s prime, a little off, just a little strange. (1536)
