Deep clear gold. Nose spicy, a bit musty, some orange and lemon. Very thick and syrupy, a bit off-putting. Flavor is tart and sour, sugars are a bit muted, quite a bit of spice. Very fruity. Between the odd flavor profile and the syrupy character, this pretty much bites as a tripel. inechoic (4) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - OCT 2, 2012 does not count
22oz. Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a thin ring of head. Very clean taste and aroma, deceptively easy drinking for such a hefty beer. Well balanced for an American triple. User37895 (3042) - - AUG 30, 2008
On draft at the Clark Street Ale House, Chicago. Poured the usual, hazy golden-straw color, white head, but this one wasn’t that impressive, quick fade, only ok lacing. The aroma was nasty sweet caramel apples, over-ripened bananas. The flavor followed suit, fowl apples w/ hints of cider, and those sweet over-ripened bananas, almost to the point where the mealiness of them buggers could be felt in the mouth. Spicing, dryness, and pilsy-grassy-hoppy elements all missing. Mouthfeel was a bit light and acidic for the style. Sorry, another 2Bro bomb. In short: A really messy sweet beer of some kind. Really bad.
How: Bottle 22oz. Tasting session with Montreal crew.
The look: Cloudy dark dirty yellow topped by a very small white head
In long: Nose of rot, butter and flowers… what the… Taste is just weird and off. Too sweet, flower juice, buttery pie crust, honey, perfume. No need to expand on my limited notes, this is bad, really bad. Oh Brother! What the hell was that? I hope this was a bad bottle. This thing had more problems than a squirrel on a six lane highway.
