3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JUL 15, 2015 I rather enjoyed this. Very mild oak and mild sour(brett) flavor. I think the sweetness countered the sour a little and made it less tart. A fuller bodied fuller mouth feel sweeter version of a mildly sour flemish brown. Serving: Bottle
22 oz bottle from backlog notes 07. Pours dark brown with reddish highlightsand a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have some roast, grass, funk, Brett, light chocolate, barnyard, wood,, fairly interesting beer from these guys, no sign of the abv. jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - AUG 5, 2013
750ml bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear nut brown with a bringt ruby hue. Aroma is tart and funky. Taste is light sweet and light tart. Super funky. Ok, this may be one of the better two brothers brews that ive had. Very enjoyable. Awktoberfest (404) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - MAR 24, 2013
There is an aroma and a taste... Just not sure it's super pleasing to me...wish it was more saison ish and less horse blanketie...it's weird...like a sour a saison a blonde and your grandmas perfume store all in one...

Poured a beautiful dark color that lit up terrifically under light to a deep ruby red. Notes were of yeast and malt. The taste combined the yeast with slight hops and grass. dogfish120love (1340) - Westfield, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 14, 2013
A black saison that brown interesting. Pours a medium to dark cloudy brown, but far from the hue of a black IPA or imperial stout. An incredibly pungent funky brett aroma with notes of horse blanket, oak and chocolate. Moderate to faint sourness on the palate with dense carbonation

On tap at Busters on 28th, a black saison huh? more like a watery boring not even really black, no roast characteristic saison.. just bland and boring. jcr (2737) - Jasper, Indiana, USA - NOV 17, 2012
Bomber. Deep brown body with ruby highlights. Fizzy, off-white head. Aroma of char, barnyard, brett, roasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Light acidity. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Lightly tart finish. Taste of roasted grain and lacquer. Odd flavor — the roast and bitter hops are at odds with the funk. portableparty (2380) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - OCT 3, 2012
22 oz. bottle. Pours brown black copper color with a nice tight soapy white head that dissipates to a wispy film and collar. Aroma has a nice farmhouse scent with some light citrus and malt notes which consist of lemon and fresh baked bread. Taste has subtle funky farmhouse along with a gentle tart brett flavor and bitterness and some plum dark fruit notes along with some roasted malt. Palate has a full and drying finish. Quite nice and unique!
