Roundhouse Robust porter takes a light look at the dark side of life. Chocolaty and glorious, this black beauty surprises with a pleasantly light mouthful and a very mellow finish.

Draft at Plainfield MWBF, from my 2011 notes. Reformulated by Two Brothers. Dark brown color, light brownish head. Smell is mostly grain, no chocolate or coffee. Just a strong, beery porter. Robust for sure. Very malty taste with some citrus hop as part of the bittering equalizer.

Tap with al at roundhouse. Why the plastic cup? Black pour, minimal head. Milk chocolate, dark red wine, dried cherry aroma. Already nice and complex. Roasted dark malt up front, tart cherry in the middle and the finish, itís that typical two brothers yeast tang. Works better in this porter than in the other lighter ales. Reminds me of a Bells Cherry Stout. Overall this is nice and rich and roasty.

On tap at the Two Brothers Round House pours dark brown/black with a small tan head. Aroma is creamy chocolate, dark roasted malts, and dark fruits. Taste is well rounded chocolate over coffee and finishing creamy sweet over bitter. Nice!

Draft at Plainfield MWBF. Pours a deep black brown with a tan head. Nose is nice. Distinct roasted notes and some chocolate fading into a generic herbal hop component. Some light caramel as well. On tasting, it is, well, robust. Expresses some nice roasty chocolate notes and a clean bitterness. Medium bodied. Quite a nice porter, really.
