Bomber to pint. Looks good; an opaque brownish-black with beige lacing. Smells malty and a little roasty. Tastes the same, only better, with a semi-sweet backbone. Good on the palate. A good example of the style. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 21, 2012
22oz 2012 bottle. Very smooth texture. Medium to bigger body. Lighter carbonation. Very dark but clear brown color. Good thin light brown head, leaves good lace. Some cocoa, light toastiness. Mild bitter taste. Some earthy hops. Toasty nuttiness. Earthy hop. Good interesting malt profile, though a bit flat in some place.. andyhwcinc (1884) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 19, 2012
Purchased at Binny’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a Friday night before heading out of the country next weekend. Appearance is a very, very dark brown with a thin white head that rims around the glass, moderate thickness. Aroma is mostly malty but also a bit faint, slight bit of sweetness/toffee. Taste is interesting, notes of chocolate malt, bit of caramel, bit of plum, it’s complex but also faint, as I’m not getting a ton out of the flavor, but it still goes down pretty nicely. It’s a good beer, but I feel like there’s a flavor that I’m missing with this one. wlajwl (6811) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - OCT 18, 2012
Aroma is dark fruit and nutty malts. The flavor is dark fruit/raspberries, nutty malts, citrus and a dry finish. ryecatcher (1445) - Bridgeport, Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 16, 2012
Bomber. Pours a cherry Coke color with an immense beige head. Nose is mainly malt. Mouth is medium bodied with malt and some hints of cocoa and toffee in the front, followed by hoppy bitterness (of the noble variety). Unremarkable, but not a drain pour either.

Fresh bomber poured into a Duvel tulip. Pours a rich dark brown with hints of ruby. There is a finger thick beige head with pretty decent lacing. Aroma is toffee, caramel, hazelnut, bread, and grassy hops. There is a touch of orange in the nose as well. Taste is caramel, toffee, bread, a touch of brown sugar, some slight orange and grassy flavors. Thin mouthfeel. Overall this is a very good altbier, I was impressed. 22 oz. pour. Very dark brown pour with small tan head. Aroma is rich and malty, strong chocolate and dark sweet breads with touches of floral hops. Flavor is rich and sweet, balanced by a touch of hops towards the back of the throat. Rich toffee, chocolate, and coffee. Some leafy hops as well. Medium bodied, pretty big for the style. Mild wood notes towards the finish. GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - SEP 12, 2009
Bottle. Poured a dark brown color with orange light shining through. The head was light tan. Big malty nose with molasses, raisin, toffee, and subdued milk chocolate elements. Light to medium bodied. Slightly sweet up front with mild to moderate bitterness at the end which lingered. I tasted chocolate, minimal toffee, and grassy hops. Not bad at all. Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, blankboy & tupalev - HogTownHarry’s bottle. Dark ruby with a slight haze and a small off-white head. Aroma is big and malty, with notes of baker’s chocolate and dark sugar. Flavour is more of the same - quite sweet, with nutty malt and chocolate notes. Moderate hops in the finish, more spicy than bitter. Medium bodied. esjaygee (3904) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - APR 6, 2009
Dark brown with a large tan head that fades away quickly. Aroma of malt, chocolate, alcohol, dark fruit and some bread. Taste of chocolate, bready malt, roasted malt, mild dark fruits and sugar. Finishes up with floral hops and a touch of sourness and faint alcohol. This one was pretty decent.
