Pours deep mahogany into a shaker. Fluffy, off-white pancake head leaves sheet lacing as it slowly recedes. Smoked caramel and tangy pit fruit aromas. Smooth and creamy dark hazlenut and caramel. Slight bitter walnut finish. brewblackhole (1587) - Muskego, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 17, 2007
Lots of sweet malt and surprising choclate in aroma, touch of some noble hop dancing around in there, taste is of a caramely mildly sweet nature with that little chocolate tease, with pleasing hop bitterness in the finish, much more body and caramelly creaminess then say Alaskan Amber Alt, the body held together nicely right to the finish. Very good and recommended xnoxhatex (1305) - Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA - AUG 10, 2008
Bomber from Armanetti’s on Lincoln, Chicago. I thought that this was originally just going to be a one off but judging by the most recent ratings it looks like this is the second batch they have done of it. Opaque, dark brown with a slight ruby tint, Large creamy tan head with nice lacing. Nice sweet nutty aroma with some caramel, toasted malt, biscuit, bread and some raisins. Sweet, boozy vanilla upfront in the flavor with bread and nuttiness, also mollases, perfume and some smoke. Medium body with nice carbonation. This beer is better than I remembered and might be one of the better ones that they have done, that being said though the flavor is a little too boozy and perfumey for me and the body could be a little fuller or atleast could have some more creaminess to round it out. Bottle and served in a standard pint glass: A deep brown hue with crimson highlights, a fading frothy off-white head and some lace. The aroma has notes of caramel and Vienna malting, dash of bittersweet chocolate, fleeting smoke vapor, some apple esters and a noble floral hop bitterness. The taste is straight forward rich malty sweetness with a mocha undertone supported by a nice addition of mild bitterness and a note of peppery spice. A smooth session beer minus the surprising alcohol levels which are very much hidden away. I dig this beer and could drink a few bottle easily. Pours clear dark brown with a red tinge and a small white froth. Lots of raisins and rye in the aroma. Flavor of sweet rye malt, some roast, a bit tangy, light brown sugar, some soy/vegetable and a tad of smoke. Finishes very dry with some btiter cherry. Medium/light body with nice sparkly carbonation. Very easy drinking.

Aroma is sweet caramel with some raisin fruitiness. Very dark brown in color, nearly too brown to see through. Very nutty sweet start, with some brown sugar flavor and some saltiness that is in the back. Very sooth finish but the alcohol does become apparent. Medium body. Surprisingly refreshing, and the type of beer I could drink several of in one sitting. I expected heavier and was happy that it wasn’t. alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - SEP 24, 2008
Bottle; have had it for about 6 months. Poured a nice brownish color with an off white head. Aroma of cocoa, bread, sweet malt, molasses and dark fruit. The flavor was so distinct compared to what I have had recently, I had to check to see when my last altbier was. It has been over a year since I have had an altbier. Flavor was fruity, chocolatey, sweet, bready, caramelly and earthy. Some floral and spiciness in the finish. REally enjoyable stuff. By the way golubj’s rating is very biased. esjaygee (3902) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - APR 6, 2009
Dark brown with a large tan head that fades away quickly. Aroma of malt, chocolate, alcohol, dark fruit and some bread. Taste of chocolate, bready malt, roasted malt, mild dark fruits and sugar. Finishes up with floral hops and a touch of sourness and faint alcohol. This one was pretty decent. Thechasm442 (1006) - Denver, Colorado, USA - OCT 15, 2012
Fresh bomber poured into a Duvel tulip. Pours a rich dark brown with hints of ruby. There is a finger thick beige head with pretty decent lacing. Aroma is toffee, caramel, hazelnut, bread, and grassy hops. There is a touch of orange in the nose as well. Taste is caramel, toffee, bread, a touch of brown sugar, some slight orange and grassy flavors. Thin mouthfeel. Overall this is a very good altbier, I was impressed. jmagnus87 (3302) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - JAN 11, 2014
Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours black with a ruby hue. Aroma is malty and Roasty. Taste is Roasty with coffee, a hint of dark fruit and some light floral hops. Full bodied with a creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Pretty darn good.
