Cask & Bottle Conditioned; Regular.
Its stark black and white appearance conceal luxurious notes of caramel and chocolate and at 4.5% ABV this is anything but austere. Cromwell would not approve!

50cl bottle from Grumpy Goat, Reading. A peaty brown pour with a thin cream head and an attractive ruby red glint; aroma of demerara sugar; dry caramel taste with a touch of chocolate; and a light bitterness leading to a chocolate caramel finish. A pleasant stout.

Bottled. Near black, small head. Aroma of chocolate, aniseed and pine. Dry with light body and crisp, clean mouthfeel. Licorice and chocolate. Spicy bitter finish with slight resiny undertones.

500ml. Two cocks ? Well , two are better than one if you’re so inclined .. The TWO COCKS bottle has a very nice and elegant feather resting under the label... one of the two cocks actual features offered as a momento ? How cool. A sandy/white foamy head sits above purple brooding black liquid . A nose of roast malt and chocolate . It drinks the same , with semi bitter dryness .

Cask at Ealing Beer Festival 2015, Ealing, London. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a medium bubbly off white head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, malty, chocolate, caramel.

sound67 (776) - Offenbach, GERMANY - JUN 2, 2015
[Reading Beer Festival, 2015] - Two Cocks Brewery 1643 Puritan, 4.5%, dunkelbraun, fast schwarz. Kleine beige Krone. Kein Stout.

Cask at the Holborn Whippet. Looks the part, nice deep black colour. Hmm taste is wrong, herbal, green apple, I think acetaldehyde. Some underlying roastiness, not overly bitter either malt or hops. Dodgy fermentation flavours dominate, sad.

Malty and sweet aroma. Good dark deepest red colour. Thick frothy head. A little fizzy. And a bit syrupy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle @ the Tenth Shrewsbury Bottle Share, thanks to Simon! Pours dark brown with medium beige head. Very nice malty caramel aroma. Coarse CDA-like taste with confident roasted flavours. Decent stout, I liked.
