3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 7, 2007 Bottle. Pours golden with thick off-white head. Huge hop nose. Fragrant citrusy hops. Taste is lively citrus - orange, passionfruit, pineapple - backed by creamy malt. Very interesting that the bitterness is neatly balanced by the captivating flavors of the hop resins.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Orange color with stream of what looks like yest or bacteria inside - yuck. Wonderfuly hop aroma. Sweet grapefruity hop body with a little malt in there. Excellent flavor but after the funk floating around, I donít think Iíll finish.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
From tap. Pours golden orange with a white head. Aroma is grape fruity. Flavour is grape with a mild malt profile beneath. Finish is dry and bitter. Another grape dominated ipa, not offensive nor really good.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Piney citrus aroma with a bit of cream. Taste is a doughy malt blended with a sharp flavored hop syrup with a lemony aftertaste.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: OCT 31, 2009 Bottle. Nose is extremely sweet hops, some light citrus notes of lemon and grapefruit. Touch of pine in there too. Color is clear orange with a nice lacing white head. Subdued bitterness, well balanced hop flavor with a very smooth palate. Hops show up all over the flavor but donít provide any harsh bitterness that is the downfall of so many IPAs. Sweet orange, musky pine, and just the perfect balance of sweet and bitter. Palate works perfectly for the style, providing one of the best examples of how to perfectly accentuate a hop-heavy beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle thanks to vyvvy. Poured a hazy orangey/yellow with a thick frothy white head. Aroma was tons of citrusy hops and some caramel malt. Flavor is obviously hop dominant but was nicely balanced with a fair bit of maltiness. The palate was very smooth and this is just one fantastic beer all around. Once again Bells does not disapoint.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
From the moment this bottle was opened it was pure joy. The aroma is full and fruity...citrus notes all around (and somewhere in the backround I am catching the slightest honey twinge). Sitting in the glass I can admire the cloudiness and the amber orange radiance. Nice and hoppy, but very bery balanced. For my own personal liking it could be a tad bit more bitter. Great brew...thanks.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a nice cloudy amber, with great laceing. Wonderful floral/citrus flavor with a slight bitterness that add to the complexity of this IPA. Itís not too often you can find such a floral/fruity ale with that wonderful bitterness. A great example of what the Bells brewery is capable of. Would reccomend this ale to
any real beer drinker, old or new. Outstanding.

My first taste of this was in bottle at Brickskeller in DC last year, and then again in bottle in Minneapolis in the winter, and now on my recent visit back to Minneapolis I see that itís showing up on tap all over dive bars in Minneapolis. This really makes me smile. What an awesome beer. Defines the true midwestern IPA style. Pours with a nice clean, white head that dissapates quickly. Nice and dry without a lot of cloying sweetness or nutty base malt character, which is perfect for this style. And really delivers on the hops, cirtus, pine, with a touch of grapefruit.. If I had to guess - A mix of old standbys like cascade, and some new school hops like centennial, amarillo and maybe some traditional british hops such as fuggle or EKG. Great complexity. Can certainly compete with some great west coast IPAs. Very well done, Bellís. Thank you for making my visits to the Midwest feel just a little more like home.
