COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Very limited release.
Once the slow wild fermentations had completed in the Original Soured Ale (around 2 years), we racked a portion to 5 year old winemaking barriques, released from a well-known local winery. Adding 25% whole morello cherries from an orchard directly across the river Derwent, we allowed a natural fermentation to ecommence in barrel. At 8 months all fermentation activity was complete. The resultant, highly coloured ale was acked out of barrel, off the fruit sediment & settled for a further 6 months prior to bottling. Behold the result!

Bottle from Salud, shared on Thanksgiving. Hazy reddish color, light pink head. Aroma has dusty overripe cherry, light vanilla, citrus. Taste is softly sour cherry, lemon, tannins, funk. Very tasty. Makes me want to buy more and store it to see what happens.

Bottle from Johnís grocery. Not free. Pour is reddish brown with a smallish white/ faintly pink foam, Reduces to nothing quickly. Aroma is that of a sour brown: apple cider vinegar, woody notes, lactic acid, and then some light sweet cherry notes as well. Flavor is a nice balance of sweet and sour with some nice holiday spice touches intermixed. Possibly some red wine flavors as well. A really nice balance of sweet and sour with an earthy spicy finish. Not overdone. Tasty.

750ml bottle pours dark ruby red with pink head. Nice deep dark cherry nose with softer funk and some fruity juice sweetness and spice. Taste is the sweetest of the 3 we tried, juicy cherry, some earthy toast and wood, crust, spice, berry, medium tartness. Enjoyable "kriek".

Lukaduke (3206) - Gray, Maine, USA - APR 8, 2016
Pours a rusty rosey golden color with twin fingers of pinkish foam. Nose is cherry forward with lots of funky depth. Rustic spicy cherry pits throughout with some moments of soft cherry flesh, ripe deep acidity, lingering basement funk and lots of dusty cobwebs linger with the spicy earthy cherry flavors.

Draught at the brewery. Pink- red, tart, lots of fresh morello cherry, bit of pitty bitterness and spice. Complex and delicious, a classic fruit ale.

Bottled 9/15. 12C. Clear deep red with a just pink head thatís soon at the rim. Aroma is nicely integrated - canít really tell where the cherries slip from sweet to tart to whatís not cherry at all. Untamed but mellow, has a funky woody character recognisable from the first time I tried the apple porter. Medium bodied, slightly slippery, low carbonation. I would have liked a few more bubbles. Taste: the richness of the cherries is brought out by quite sour beer underneath, which also has some apricot stones and/or almonds, stems. Sour but not quite dry, no bitterness. Nice but not spectacular fruit. Good balance but thereís not a lot of depth. A second glass is softer - maybe an indication that waiting a while would have been a good idea. This is very good. No bonus points for woad-daubed artisanship or íno-one believedí.

Darkish pink with a small pale head. Aroma is super funky, barnyard, fresh cherries, cherry pits. Medium-light bodied, no noticeable carbonation, funky on the palate with a massive cherry fruitiness. Taste is funky cherries, fresh whole cherries. Yum.
