Gravity cask at the Drayman’s Son, Ely. Light to mid-brown, clear with some wispy white head on top. Slight hazelnut and toffee on the aroma. Sweet malty taste with a bitter-sour berry flavour near the finish. Long woody aftertaste. Just can’t get into this. StueyD (1585) - Heacham, Norfolk, ENGLAND - MAR 14, 2014
A mid to dark copper orange coloured beer with a weak white head. A light caramel malt aroma is backed up with a hint of fruity hop and a touch of bread yeast. A dry mouthfeel. A sweetish start to the flavour, caramel, and a touch nutty from the malt, all balanced by a tart pithy fruity hop flavour that lasts into a mild finish. Bottle purchased from the brewery’s stall at the Sandringham Christmas Fair 2013. AshtonMcCobb (6771) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAR 7, 2014
Bottle from allmyvinyl.
Appearance - murky amber with a decent head.
Nose - savoury, like yeast dominant.
Taste - apples (slightly worrying) and more savoury maltiness. Some biscuits.
Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a dry finish.
Overall - in terms of the balance, it’s not bad but there are unpleasant notes. allmyvinyl (10835) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAR 7, 2014
