COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Igor Sikorsky, at the age of 50, realized his dream of 30 years with the successful lift-off of the first practical helicopter in Stratford, Connecticut, September 14, 1939.

In honor of Stratford’s aviation pioneer Igor Sikorsky, we’ve created this most unorthodox Russian Imperial Stout. Made with rye and aged in oak whiskey barrels that give it a depth of character like no other, we think Igor would be pleased with the attention to detail in our creation. Here’s to Igog-and following dreams to reach new heights!

Bottle shared in London - picked up from Beergium. Pours black-brown with a creamy, beige head. The nose has a lot of scorched wood, dark chocolate, ash. Medium sweet flavour with strong ashy bitterness, some alcohol, bitter baking cocoa, woody dryness. Full bodied, oily, with fine to average carbonation. Hot finish, with loads more hard ashy roast, bitter baking cocoa, more drying wood, scorched earth. Hard-edged gear. Pretty solid overall.

Bottle split at Bespin, thanks to LKS, 08/12/16. Pitch black with a decent tan covering. Nose is charr, roast malt, toffee, tangy dark fruits, molasses, fruit cake, black pepper. Taste comprises sweet malts, subtle whisky, molasses, spice, charr, treacle toffee, spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the close. Ok impy but a touch on the harsh side ... would sup again but wouldn’t seek out.
