COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A hefty Black Ale with profound malt and hop complexity. Neither Stout nor Porter, it will be its own thing full-bodied, bold and black. Flavor characteristics of dark chocolate, mocha, molasses and dark fruits. Balanced by piney citrusy notes of Pacific Northwest hops. Full-bodied and uncommonly satisfying at 7.5% alcohol.

Very hoppy for a porter, could almost be a black IPA. Resinous hops, roasted malts, and a little smoke up front.

12 oz can shared by a friend, thanks Mike J! Black with light tan head. Aromas of caramel, vanilla, roasty notes. Tastes of roast, light pine, some caramel. Medium body with a dry finish. Pretty good.

black color; aroma is a mix of dark, roasted malt and piney hops with fruit and caramel notes; flavor is much the same - dark malt with chocolate and coffee notes with a good deal of piney, citrusy hops with some fruit notes; bitter finish; kind of a mix of a porter and a black IPA

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2017 Drank out of bottle. Coffee, toffee, and pine nose. In the mouth, balance of malt and bracing but not overwhelming hops. Finishes with a bit of malty sweet and blooming one. The effect is a mix of a big brown slew mixed with a restrained IPA. Quite nice.

Malt and brown bread aromas. Pours dark dark brown with a big frothy brown head. Sweet licorice and toast flavors. Fizzy mouthfeel with a sour long hoppy finish. Starts like a stout and lingers like and IPA. Pretty good.

On tap at the brewery. Near black pour with modest tan head and lacing. The aroma is a cracker, bread, yeasty, and dark malt concoction. Medium body. The taste has a big yeasty flavor with the same dark and sweet malt notes. Mild bitterness.

Black with small beige head. Aroma a mix of roasted nuts, coffee and some pine. Medium full body, not really any alcohol. Flavor is off-dry, roasted malt, some piney hops, some caramel and chocolate. Good.

04-NOV-2016, draft @Two Roads, with Morten G:-) Free pour from Frank following the guided tour of the brewery. Black with a lasting, lacing, tan head. Aroma is roast and hops, coffee, pine. Taste is roast, coffee, caramel - just a Little burnt, grape fruit, pine, flowers. Clearly dry-hopped. Nice.

Dark brown with thick tan head. Heavy roasted aroma, molasses, earthy. Flavors of dark chocolate, blackstrap molasses, stone fruit. Mouthfeel is slightly creamy, medium body - confusing because the flavor is extremely thick.

Draft at the brewery. Pours dark opaque brown with a fizzy tan head. Tastes like burnt malt, charred toast, roasted coffee, very earthy, and intense. Medium body and low carbonation. Smells like burnt malt, very earthy, charred toast, and green coffee beans.
