A traditional farmhouse ale made with a very expressive yeast strain that contributes an array of tropical fruit, spice flavors and aromatics. Brewed with a variety of harvest grains including barley, wheat, oats and rye as was likely the case with farmhouse brewers of yore. The result is a complex, refreshing and distinctive example of this esoteric style. Intensely fruity (passion fruit, pineapple, mango, lychee), slightly spicy (clove, white pepper)

This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a hazy golden color with a one finger white foamy head that quickly concaves to leave a film of a cap of a head. Lacing is mostly few and far between. The smell had some light of tropical fruit, and peppery spice. After a bit of warming, there’s some rye malt. The taste was basically the same with an added sweet breadiness intertwining and leading into the aftertaste. There’s a dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light allowing the spice to hit a bit harder for the harshness level of this beer. Overall, whoah, better than expected from Two Roads. I’d have this again, nice saison leaning to the spicier side of the wheelhouse.

UPDATED: OCT 24, 2015 BTLD 08/14/15. Nose tangy-tart with white and black pepper, lots of tropical fruit (pineapple, lychee, mango, guava, passionfruit, all working well together), with medium vanilla and lemon (and strong coriander) which last and meld everything else together. Pours hazy straw-golden with a fizzy and ephemeral soapy bright white head. Taste very crisp and satisfying, a bright and citric full body with light bitterness and slimy bread character, yet some nice grainy malt underneath. Oats are there as cereal in the aftertaste, rye only barely and in the middle. Take away the receding pepper and this is a very good hopped-up wit, but with it, a good modern Saison. A touch heavy for its alcohol level, but I’d definitely ask for two!

12oz bottle from Xroads. Poured a clear gold body under a foamy white head. Aroma has a lot going on, lots of dough and yeast, banana, bubblegum, pepper, spice. Flavor is much lighter but all the notes are there but not up in your face like the aroma. Body is fizzy with a medium to lighter body,

I really like this beer, but then I'm a fan of saison generally but particularly the American craft versions that have a bit more mouthfeel and a bit more emphasis on hops and malt with subdued yeast phenols, and this beer is all that. Plus it tastes like a saison I've been brewing for a couple years now so, there's that. Good stuff! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nosy AF. Taste of funk, citrus, mango, pineapple, and more funk. Bannana and sweet notes without a hint of hop. Taste a bit of salt and pepper towards the end. Good one. Interesting, A+

Sampled draft @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. Hazy golden, small white head. Nose is dull orange, wheat, honey, sugar & candy. Taste is dull yeast, sugar, oatmeal, cereal, candy,.. Body is a bit thin. Boring at best. Meh. Saison is the new tripel.

Bottle from total wine norwalk. Pours golden with a white head. Doesn’t leave much lacing in the glass. Not much on the nose or tongue that seems particularly reminiscent of the style. It’s just kind of bland and formless. Of all the Two roads beers I’ve sampled so far this seems to be the biggest miss.

Bottle at Teddy’s, chill as fuck. Pours pale gold, billowy head. Nose funky w some Belgian yeast. Malty and bready palate w notes of ripened banana. Not too much yeast or funk sadly for me.
