2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20
Piledriver? Are you kidding me? In some bizarre junior varsity league perhaps. There was literally no aroma to this beer. The taste though was passable except at the very end it jumped up with an annoying strike of bad hops that made me think "Go away puny pale ale!"
had on tap and cask at H-Town Location:::: pretty much a dark tan, low foam .. . light caramel and honey in the nose .. . mellow stuff .. . kind of muddled, light caramel maybe .. . decent but lacking, and the cask version really seems unnecessary! A very dark pale ale with an average flavor. Very easy to drink, but has the typical TwoRows palate that is very thin and quickly diminishing. If anything, I like the malt profile on this one, but it seems as though they only used one variety of hops very sparingly on this one. Overall though, I think this is one of their better brews. Tap at Allen, TX location. Pours a decent golden amber with NO aroma. Yes, folks, from the makers of N/A beers comes N/S (no smell). Tastes of malty hops with a diluted sweet berry finish. Average mouthfeel. Just slightly under acceptable. pinkzambia (1933) - Boise, Idaho, USA - AUG 25, 2007
Tap @ brew pub: Clear gold with clingy lacing. Mild hoppy aroma. Perfumy hops in the taste with a nice average bitter aftertaste. I thought this was the best beer they had available on this date. I probably would have liked the Hopzilla better, but they were out! Lumpy (1802) - Carrollton, Texas, USA - SEP 16, 2005
Draft at Addison location. Dark honey body with a film of bubbles. Nose-very clean hops. Taste-doesn’t have that characteristic god awful Two Rows chalky taste. Clean hoppy taste with a good amount of malt to balance it out. Grapefruit, PNW hops. All in all, not bad. Kevin (2199) - Montana, USA - SEP 8, 2005
tap at the addison location. amber with almost no head. damnit don’t put it in an iced glass, gggrrrrr. well once i could get an aroma it was lemon hop with some toffee and pine. butterscotch and roasted hop flavor with a grassy finish. something pecan like here. drinkable, but average at it’s best. there is a husky grain taste throughout this. it gets better as it warms abd does have a nice sweet flavor to it. I didn’t expect much from this one, considering it’s a Two Rows brew. Having said that, it wasn’t terrible and it was at least refreshing on a hot summer day. Could use some more body and a bit more aroma. Seems to be a dumbed down IPA for the Lite beer drinker. TChrome (1480) - North Richland Hills, Texas, USA - MAY 28, 2004
Dark golden color but the lack of good head costs the beer appearance points. Nice hoppy aroma with a hint of malt. Flavor is hoppy also, but something is just kind of missing. One dimensional. Aurelius (5369) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - AUG 28, 2003
A somewhat unpleasant undertone to the light citrus aroma -- eggs, fish or something. Good true amber color. No head. Medium-heavy bittering, caramel and citrus. Hops are a little overbrewed -- bittering was like burnt potato chips. Solid mouth. Light fizz. Brewpub boredom.
