Cask at Cloisters. Pours clear dark brown with a thin cream-coloured head. Aromas of chocolate, faint orange. Taste is more chocolate, again a hint of orange. Thin body. Sweet finish. The orange builds a little down the glass.

Pint bottle at the Schooner Gateshead. I was disappointed. Alright for a stout, but little in the way of chocolate orange flavour. Not bad, just a bit bog standard.

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. A black beer with chocolate and roasted coffee flavours, liquorice notes and hints of orange on the finish.

[cask at Bow Bar, Edinburgh] Pours black with a slightly cream-coloured head. Aroma is heavy on the chocolate malt, deep and slightly sweet roast. Some orange citrus oil on the nose. On the taste, more of the toasty malt flavours, with really very little orange. So - stylistically, I was disappointed, as I was expecting it to be much fruitier – but as a stout, it’s a cracker, rich at first, then smooth and chalky on the finish. More orange next time! Cask @ Southern, Edinburgh 191212
Black, ruby edges, dense tan head, good lacing
Aroma of mellow dark malts, soft chocolate malts
Taste of mellow dark malts, soft chocolate malts, quite sweet dark malts, some fruityness comes through after a while, really good flavoured stout
Palate - medium body, smooth texture. Finish of nice rich milky chocolate, hint of orange comes through with the drinking
Overall - Not a lot of orange in this which is a good thing - just a really well made stout
