Bottle. Amber with a white head. Malty aroma, biscuit, toffee, shortbread, tiny hint of slightly vegetal spicy hops in the background, smells a little like kebab meat actually, plenty of diacetyle in there. Taste is a malt bomb again, toffee, biscuit and perhaps something that could be described as hops. Quite sweet with a minimally bitter finish. This is more of a bitter really. ’Twice the hops’ really begs the question of how much hops are in their single ’ipa’. A shocking interpretation of the style but perhaps not a terrible beer. Taste like a double deuchars

330ml bottle from Beermoth. Pours a dark orange/brown with short-lasting head. The aroma, however, was an immediate put-off and made me dread what was to come, a strange herbal off-character that smelt and tasted wrong. Dark orange body and small clumped white head. Box of sweets nose, nothing amazing and lacking in double ipa juiciness. Soft oily thread, full on oversweet and undercooked. Poured a slightly hazy copper colour with a medium white head. Aroma of biscuit, tropical fruit and a little butterscotch. Grapefruit flavours with bread, toffee and orange peel. The residual bitterness was not very balanced and was unripe fruit with some resin.

33cl bottle from Provenance Wines. Appearance - not pale at all. Quite orange to amber with nice lacing. Nose - malt and cardboard. Off notes. Taste - malt and not much else. Keg. Pale yellow/orange with minimal head. Cheesy smell, taste isn’t quite as potent as I’d like in a DIPA, malt holding up well against citrus flavours with a smooth bitter finish reminiscent of classic British bitters. Lightly hazed golden with a very thin off white head that dissipates edgeward.
Nose is bitter grapefruit, dank hops, orange, light caramel, sugars, hint of booze.
Taste comprises orange pith, grapefruit, bitter hops, piney notes.
Full end of medium bodied, hop bitterness and a touch of booze in the finish.

Cask @ Craft Clerkenwell. The pour’s amber with a small head. The nose is very sweet mango, pineapple, general tropical fruits. A bit of bubblegum. The taste is herbal hops. Unwashed root vegetable. Some pineapple, cheddar cheese. Mango fruit leather. Full mouthfeel. Syrupy. Soft carbonation. Overall, solid.
