Pours black with a medium-sized blanket of light brown foam. Good head retention. Lots of fine bubbles cling together in clumps as I work my way through the glass. The aroma has a lot of chocolatey malt with a healthy dose of rye spice and some nice though mild barrel characteristics. I’m also getting some coffee, blackberries, dates and blueberries. The barrel-aging contributes a sweet, vanilla rye flavor. It’s very toned down, which I generally like. Taste-wise, it’s sweet and rich. Lots of fruit and chocolate. More rye spice. Light oak with that pleasant vanilla-forward spirit flavor. Mouthfeel is smooth and fairly thick. Another solid beer from Tyranena, though I still prefer Devil Made Me Do It by a bit. Very dark brown, almost black, and almost nonexistent beige lacing. Somewhat subdued aroma of rye, earthy malts, cherries, wood, and hints of chocolate. Thin sweetness with a little metallic undertone. Spicy carbonation, medium-bodied, and an abrupt finish. jgb9348 (6438) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - NOV 21, 2013
Deep dark brown coloured body with a fast-dying tan head. Aroma of oak, vanilla, roasted malt, pit fruits, alcohol, cherries, milk, peat and tons of cognac and brandy - very strong nose and nice! Medium-bodied; Slightly watery feel at first with a good deal of flavours ranging from cherries to oak and back to earthy matls. Aftertaste is a bit underwhelming showing vanilla, anise, pepper, cherries and scotch. Overall, a nice and complex smelling beer, but the flavours never reach a maximum with some nice tastes, but fairly thin and not well developed. Great to try, but there are better beers out there in this style! I sampled this stubby twelve ounce bottle purchased from Discount Liqour in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 05-September-2012 for US$2.49 sampled at home in Washington on 21-November-2013, aging the beer for a bit over 13 months. Dark pour with a brown head. Aroma is rye, roasted malt, sweetness. Taste is rye, roasted malt, rye whiskey in the aftertaste. It leaves a nice roasted malt aftertaste. So-so lacing. One mighty fine tasty beer. Art (3219) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 18, 2013
Pours black with no head whatsoever out of the bottle. Amazingly sweet boozy aroma. Some chocolate. Milky creamy taste with a silky smooth mouth feel. Wow this is well done even though it's flat at this point.

12 oz. bottle as a local trade bonus. Thanks, Jeff! Pours a deep brown color with a small beige head. Distinct whiskey barrel character throughout- vanilla, coconut, brown sugar, oak, caramel, roasted malts, and chocolate. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, roasty mouthfeel. A little thinned, but very good. djd07 (15342) - Houston, Texas, USA - APR 19, 2013
Bottle thanks to Eric. Pours a very dark brown with paperthin head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is roasted malt and chocolate. Sweet roast and light chocolate with light bitter finish. Good. obguthr (6592) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - APR 14, 2013
Slutfest 2013: Tobacco and rye bread aroma. Cola colored, thick tan head. Flavor transitions from tobacco to ash to creosote. Fairly nice, but has a tanginess that seems very out of place for this style of beer. It’s ok. Butters (4063) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - APR 13, 2013
Sampled at Slutfest 4 - Sexytime! Dark brown pour with ring of tan head. Malty roasty and hint of marshmellow and molasses. Sweet and semi whiskey note, but totally smooth. Pretty good. Kinz (3786) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - APR 13, 2013
Pours black, brown at edges. Aroma is lightly of chocolate and coffee. Flavor is similar. Bit of vanilla on the finish. Just a touch rough. But not bad at all.
