(Bottle) Pours a cloudy amber body with a small beige head. Aroma of plastic, dried apple, smoke, band aid, roastiness, and salty. Flavor of aluminum, light citrus, ash tray, plastic, and caramel malt with a bitter finish. Dogbrick (13003) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 5, 2009
This brew pours a cloudy ruby brown color with a medium and fluffy beige head that recedes slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Sugary malt aroma with notes of smoke and vanilla. Medium body with a sweet malt and burnt sugar base and flavors of mild hops, smoke and oak mixed in. The finish is sweet and malty with a charred wood and caramel aftertaste. Interesting Barley Wine overall, yet not as enjoyable as I would have expected from this brewer. hopdog (12510) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 18, 2007
12oz bottle acquired in multiple trades (drewbeerme, CaptainCougar & Ty5592). Poured a medium reddish / brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of roast, dark fruits, caramel, and had a light band-aid thing going on. Tastes of caramel, light chocolate, light smoke, and some dark fruits. Light alcohol burn in the finish. j12601 (11571) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - SEP 12, 2009
Bottle at Captain Lawrence courtesy of Greg during the release of Smoke from the Oak Apple Brandy Barrel. Pours a ruby brown with a thin beige head. Plum, prune, vanilla, and a light isopropyl note. Flavors are somewhat akin to decomposing fruit – plum and prunes. Light dry finish. Ok, but not amazing.
